Re: Garrett County Community College
I agree with almost all of what Crimson said except for one point. Saying he was easily the best player in District 6 last year would be a point of disagreement with me because I would argue Martinazzi has to be in the discussion. They play different types of games but I'm just so impressed with BM ...

Re: predictions for Bishop Guilfoyle High School in 2014
This coming season is the year that BG has been looking forward to with next year's group of seniors. They only lost 3 players (Little, Luciano, & Taddei) who were starters and have almost all of their key players returning. They seem to have what every team is looking for (i.e. size, experience...

Re: lood ahead to D6 girls bball
From what I know about local girls hoops, your overview seems well thought out and I'd be surprised if it didn't play out very similar to what you posted here. To me the boys side of district six is going to be much more unpredictable. There are a lot of good players who will be graduating this year...

Re: Holidaysburg's Petoney Resigns
Any kid? I had 2 kids go through that system (1 who played basketball a few years ago) and as I've stated in the past, at least the last two years BG's boys team has had every kid on their team come up through their parochial system and have only played for BG school teams. They had the Snyder kid f...

Holidaysburg's Petoney Resigns
Per the Altoona Mirror website Hollidaysburg Boys Basketball Coach Mike Petoney has resigned after 14 seasons. With the team moving back to the AAA classification next year and all the players returning it would seem that whoever gets the job will at least be able to compete and potentially win righ...

Re: Hats off to Bishop Carroll
I was talking about the boys program specifically not the girls and attempted to state that during the post although I might not have done it very well. It's obvious the girls have kids from different school disticts although we can agree to differ on whether they were recruited by BG or not. They h...

Re: Hats off to Bishop Carroll
That is a great post hoops. To say that it's not an advantage for a private school to be able to draw players from more than one geographical school district is just ridiculous. I'm not as familiar with the BC kids as I am the BG kids because I've had 3 kids graduate from BG (even though I went to a...

Re: Playoff Scores
One thing to consider, if you do have seperate public and private school playoffs it still doesn't fix the ever growing problems of Charter schools (Ex. Lincoln Park) where the public schools are concerned. I could be mistaken, but I believe that charter schools are considered public schools and wou...

Re: Playoff Scores
Against my better judgment I'm going to weigh in on the public/private topic in what is hopefully a well thought out and reasonable way. I believe that private schools do have an advantage over public schools in that they can draw from a wider geographic area than can a small public school. I think ...
