Preseason District 5/6/9 Class AAAA Power Rankings

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

1. Johnstown 0-0   Penn Cambria
Greater Johnstown is the defending 5/6/9 AAA Champion, and they should have another really good team in 2016. Their quest for a back to back title will begin at home against Penn Cambria.  The Trojans have some really talented players, but perhaps no more talented than senior wide receiver/defensive back Exree Loe. Loe checks in as a three-star recruit by all the major scouting services and is down to either Maryland or West Virginia. The Trojans also have talented players like Bryce Gibson, Tavis Price, Theo Tinsley, and Shamar Jones.  Finding a quarterback is the biggest key for this team.

2. Clearfield 0-0 @ DuBois
Clearfield opens with DuBois on the road in what should be a big game for both sides goind forward this year. Tim Janocko's squad has some pretty impressive individual talent themselves. Ryan Lezzer has generated tons of college interest and is a weapon in both the passing and running games.  Seth Caldwell is coming off an outstanding season rushing for 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns. Like Johnstown, it appears questions arise at the quarterback position.

3. DuBois 0-0   Clearfield
DuBois was a small AAAA school recently, but become a big AAAA under the new statewide realignment. The Beavers' calling card is offense, as they managed to score 90 points in a game last year (and lost), but they really can light up the scoreboard. Matt Miller threw for 3,000+ yards as a sophomore, and should orchestrate another prolific offense, although he is losing his top two receivers.  Defense was obviously an issue at times last season, but find themselves in a more favorable classification this year.
