College Hoops 12/19-12/25

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

Pitt 9-2  KenPom: #58
Wednesday:  Omaha 7:00

I've sort of forget to keep up with basketball the past two weeks, but since then Pitt has won 3 in a row since their terrible loss to Duquesne. The Panthers are up to 9-2, and they just have one game this week before Christmas.  They should beat Oklahoma to move to 10-2.  Pitt's problems are simple, and that's a lack of depth.  Pitt isn't getting much beyond their first 6.  Young and Artis have carried the team for the most part, but Luther had an impressive game on Saturday. They need a third and fourth scorer to emerge before conference play starts.

Penn State 7-5   KenPom: 109
Wednesday: Morgan State 5:00

Penn State snapped a two game losing streak with an impressive win over Saint John's on Sunday.  Penn State dominated the Red Storm at Madison Square Garden for one of their more impressive wins this season. Penn State should win on Wednesday to finish the non-conference slate at 8-5. The Big Ten schedule gets rolling next Tuesday.

Duquesne 5-6  KenPom: 216
Monday: Jackson State 7:00
Thursday: Colgate 2:00

Since their big win over Pitt, they lost to Robert Morris and barely beat Central Connecticut State. Not exactly the momentum builder they were hoping to get.  The Dukes host a 3 win Jackson State team and a 2 win Colgate team at the Palumbo Center this week, they *should* get themselves to 7-6 before A10 play starts.

Saint Francis 3-6 KenPom: 323
Monday: @ Marquette 7:00  FS1
Thursday: @ Texas A&M 8:00

Saint Francis get a rare national TV appearance tonight against Marquette of the Big East.   They also travel to College Station on Thursday to play another major conference team.  The Red Flash will likely lose both games, and they are currently riding a four game losing streak as it is. It's a young Saint Francis team with three sophomores and a freshmen leading them in scoring. They are learning and should be better for it moving forward.
