Pirates vs. Cardinals Open Thread 4/17-4/19

Bell is finally getting the at bats that he should've been getting for all of last year. I think he'll be a guy that really turns a corner in about a month or so, assuming he continues to get the time he's getting now. I think Marte will be alright. Hopefully these nagging injuries do not last all season for Polanco. He was tearing it up in the world baseball classic then returned to the Pirates injured.

You know they play 162 games right? You seem to be treating this like a 20 game high school baseball season.


The Cubs have the same record as the Pirates, and the Cubs are the best team in the NL top to bottom. 

No- I never heard that!  Who'd have guessed.  Every team loses a game or 2 now and then,  It's the get swept one series, sweep the next I can't take.  If I want to watch a roller coaster I can go to the amusement park.  If nothing else, every time I post anything I know for a certainty it will get a rise, and response, from you.

Doesn't matter much now. Marte suspended 80 games. 

Marte and Kang are probably the Pirates two best hitters. And they are no without both of them.

How long until McCutchen, Cole and Watson are traded?

Probably not for a while. Trading Cutch while Marte was active seemed more likely, now that he's gone they're gonna need him to play center.

It -is- a lot easier to be pessimistic about the Pirates winning any titles for awhile.  It takes a really staunch fan, to fly in the face of facts , to have optimism.  I applaud you for that.  I'll take the safe road and bet against the Bucs.
