Konjo Reviews: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Post by konjo78 »

Hello a new year has started and I finally got to go out and watch some of the newer movies in theaters. The first one I wanted to see on my list was the surprising hit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. This was a fun action filled comedy that I really enjoyed overall. While the beginning to the movie felt more slow that it had to be once the top billed actors appeared in the "Jumanji Game" it was a blast. Kevin Hart and Jack Black steal the show for me with their comedy but also ability to show growth in their characters. Dwayne Johnson and Karen Gillian did a solid job as well as there wasn't any point where I felt this cast of four was weak at any point. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle does suffer though from just being plain and simple, which is okay it didn't try or want to be something more, but if you go in looking for that you might be disappointed. Overall I had a blast and would recommend this movie to any family, with older kids, to go and see together right now.

Overall Score: 7.5/10

So is this more of a comedy than the original. I assumed so with the cast.

FYI, for those with Amazon Prime. I watched Allied on there last night. Pretty good. It's Brad Pitt so...

Yes this is 100% a comedy. They connect it to the original but honestly that wasnt needed in my opinion. The movie holds up on its own without the "Jumanji" name carrying it. Personally someone in Hollywood probably wouldnt green light the project without reducing risk in some way so having it be a 'sequel spin off' of an already established brand had to happen.

I also just saw The Greatest Showman last night and post my thoughts later this week. Still trying to figure out the catch to movie pass... $9.99 a month and you can technically see 1 movie per day? Either way im enjoying being able to go to the theater a lot more than i would of before

1. I loved Jumanji. It was great humor. It wasn’t force fed and they didn’t swear 1,000 times for laughs. It was just humor. I feel it was kind of like Wild Hogs which I also laugh at. Funny without being vulgar.

2. My mother in law uses movie pass and sees everything. She has been using it for over a year with no problems and loves it.

If you go their website it will tell you what theaters it works at. For me it says it works at every theater near me.

Seen 22 dollars worth of movie since getting it monday and that total will probably be doubled by sunday
