Re: Ligonier to WPIAL official
Is this a jab at the Heritage and / or District 6?

A jab or is he telling the truth.
Did anyone actually give the LV players any respect for being a strong football program that worked on being good? If it was all about enrollment, whhich is the biggest complaint on why they are so good, why is Butler, one of the largest enrollments in the WPIAL stink in football. Why did I hear some people say we can't kids to commit to weight lifting in the off-season like Ligonier Valley. Why was Kyle Silk's dad criticized for a comment he made about LV in 2016, quoting don't complain, try to work as hard as they do.
You LV haters just want to throw jobs at the team because they happen to be really good.
Isn't ironic that the Heritage Conference is looking to replace LV with Bishop Carroll, a team the league booted out because they were too good. Also, is Northern Cambria going to be the next whipping boy since its going to be in Class 2A.
Losing LV from the Heritage Conference will hurt the conference in the long run.
Instead of bad-mouthing student athletes, you should praise them.
Best of luck Rams in the WPIAL. You're better off in the WPIAL because there is definitely better competition.

If LV is so good why are they not playing this weekend?

Once upon a time LV was in the LHAC. That’s where they belonged. Were they thrown out for being too good? Nope.
Re: Ligonier to WPIAL official
Life changes. Dynamics are constantly changing. The heritage conference schools are shrinking. They are having a tough time fielding teams. They will be talking consolidation or at least Co-ops before long at most of the Heritage schools, most likely consolidation. The situation is not the same now as it was when Ligonier joined the conference. Over time, they outgrew the conference and the conference outgrew them, but the opposite way. It is a good move for Ligonier to find a home where they fit with their enrollment and their travel radius. The same can be said for the Heritage. The Heritage teams will have a better time playing sports, be more competitive in their own arena, and maybe gain football players. It was once said to me, the hardest animal to hunt and kill is the school mascot. That is evident now in the Heritage and the Westpac. Ligonier took advantage of the consolidation and it made them very strong.

Its one thing to say "certain" things within your own locker room to stoke the fire. It's another to say it in your own community. To say it to the media, is a bold move that traditionally does not end well.LoneRanger wrote: ↑November 19th, 2019, 9:26 pm Is this a jab at the Heritage and / or District 6?

I don't know Roger Beitel personally. He probably reads this forum from time to time. So I will just lay it out there, some advice for going forward.
"Careful of the bridges you burn on the way out of town, those left behind may not send over the row boat."
"In order to be the hunted, you must make it to the summit."
And my final piece of advice:
Careful what you wish for. This move could be the move that eventually ends your coaching tenure. If success isn't in the future, and a new generation of Rams faithful aren't "winning" they are going to look for someone to blame. If there is anything I have learned in the business of coaching, things can change drastically on a dime, especially when the wins aren't piling up.
Parents/Community love looking for people to blame, and you would be public enemy number one.
Good luck in the future, because you are going to need it, without it, its someone else's job to find the "achievements."
Thanks!
