Re: Fall Sports
Protests had some to do with an increase.... But so did cities/towns opening too soon. Protests happened in NYC, but you arent seeing a spike in cases there. No most areas where spikes are happening are states/cities that opened up in april/may/june that didnt react once numbers started rising until they peaked as high as they were in april, if not more.
Just a week ago people said a 2nd outbreak would happen in september because of politics and scoffed when we said its happening now.... Well I think its clear its happening now and you are even getting republicans up to/including trump pushing ideas like masks to help stop the spread.
Like crimson said, its amazing this political virus has hit all across the world...

Cuckoo cuckoo cuckooGoldeneagles12 wrote: ↑July 1st, 2020, 8:17 pm Well most lawmakers got what they wanted a huge surge thanks to their protests and riots. Destroy everyone's lives to try and steal November. This virus is bad enough on its own through normal life so let's let everybody out in groups of thousands to make it worse. I know this virus is no hoax at all but if anyone can't see thats why they let that stuff go without much pushback is blind.

Sandy Barbour did not say that at all. In fact, most of what she said was the opposite.konjo78 wrote: ↑July 1st, 2020, 8:04 pm PSU AD quoted today that the NCAAF season may have to be postponned to spring....
This speaks a lot for football in college/professional level in my opinion. If the NFL is already cutting preseason games out over a month in advance because of COVID whats are the odds the whole season gets shortened/delayed/cancelled.
She said logistically Spring football would be a last resort.

Re: Fall Sports
USC looking at mostly online classes this Fall. I don’t think that’s a great sign for college football.
Re: Fall Sports
The PIAA mandate that athletes must wear masks while on the bench or sidelines is absolutely ridiculous. Somehow, the virus must disappear while the athletes are on the field or court and then magically reappear on the bench or sidelines. While the U.S. has seen a spike in cases over the last month or so, the level of hospitalization or death has not risen and has actually stayed constant. This is exactly what we need to develop herd immunity. Many foreign countries have already reopened schools. Hopefully, the U.S. will do the same this fall.

I agree, unfortunately it's not looking good at this point.

Re: Fall Sports
Most foreign countries have seen their curve go down to a extremely low amount.
The US however has seen cases increasing by the day to its highest levels yet. Deaths will start piling up soon

38 days of Portland protests. Have a few more months of that, until Nov. 4.

Local college impact: Centennial Athletic Conference just cancelled football for the season.... All other fall sports suspended until end of September.

And the Ivy League is going to announce their plans on Wednesday. Options seem to be delay season by a month or move football to spring. If they do the same as the Centennial, that would almost certainly start a trend for high school and small college football to follow, at least in the Northeast/mid-Atlantic regions
