Yankees/Phillies now postponed..
Braves are also being tested after playing Marlins. I know they have 2 players whop are sick.

I give MLB 2 days and it will be cancelled.

Also heard this morning a few D7 schools may be opting out of fall sports. Will decide by week's end.
Pittsburg is turning into a hot spot

Manfred, just wondering . Do you have any current high school or college athletes , teachers or coaches in the family ? I have all 4 of them covered . So what you and all the other posters that think we should ignore the guidelines is asking is "Can I put all of my family at risk for your entertainment ?
I know this wasn't targeted to me but I'll answer it anyway. I have 2 kids that play sports and I coach. We bunkered down like everyone else at first. When we survived the 'Easter outbteak' and it became apparent that the virus was manly affecting the elderly and those with health risks (and those unlucky enough to be in nursing homes in PA, NY, and NJ) we let the kids start playing in the neighborhood. We stayed away from family with health issues until THEY felt their quality of life was suffering. When I saw our governor march in a protest and then condemn people for going to church, I knew this was getting political. When rec leagues started we let the kids play as we had one death in Cambria County. We are between 4 and 10 months into this thing depending upon who you believe, and there are minimal stories of suffering and death here in Cambria County. Do I fear for my kids playing sports, going to work-outs, and working part-time jobs, honestly no more than I did a year ago.
And just cause Cambria county has had less suffering, hospitalization, and death, doesn't mean Allegheny, Westmoreland counties or other more populated counties aren't. I never understood the whole my town has nobody that has it, so everything should be ok argument. Get you head out of the sand and look at what is going on around you. Florida and Texas just had their most deaths on one day, Miami is being compared to Wuhan, and LA is going on lockdown, but since Johnstown has nothing we should all go back to normal.
Backing up a few days, no one is saying because my town doesn't have it then no one has it but why is it wrong to treat places differently? We are not Philadelphia or Allegheny county. Similarly to the region based sports that you are seeing in the upper levels, why do we have to act exactly the same way as some of the hot beds? Clearfield, Centre, Cambria, Blair, Somerset, Bedford and Indiana counties, who are in our playing area, have a total of 1612 cases which totaled accounts for less than 2% of the state cases. Is there a risk sure, but combining those 7 county's numbers we are still only 14th in state cases as of today's numbers, I just looked them up. There is a lot to decide, I'm glad I'm not the one making the decisions but everywhere is not equal due to population density etc. The southeastern region accounts for 65% of the 106,000 confirmed cases. Things should be treated differently there than say in Potter county.

The CDC has Cambria County with 219 cases and 3 deaths as reported today. Is it so wrong with those kind of numbers that Colonel Mustard feels like he can take his kids to a park? Maybe he would feel differently if he lived in Philly but he doesn't. Be cautious, where your mask, do what you can but we need to quit acting like everywhere and everyone is created equal. If you don't want to go out then don't. If you don't want your kids to go out then don't. If you have a reason to stay home then please, stay home. Most people aren't asking you to put yourself at risk. Do what YOU think is best for YOU. Not one person in this country can say that know everything about any of it. The data has changed too much for it to be considered factual. I heard recently that if you are required to get tested say for a job and you go week one and test positive then go week two and test positive then go week three and test negative they are counting that as two positive tests to the statistics even though it's the same person. Do I know that to be true, absolutely not but that is my point. You can't rely on any of it and say that you know what is happening because no one truly does.

So now the PIAA is being more overt that they don't want to make any decisions about fall sports and are punting to the governor.

I think whichever side you are on with football, this plan makes no sense (spread out on the sideline before going on the field and smashing into 21 other people, for example). PIAA also providing a convoluted 3-option plan for schools to start the season and stating they don't feel the football season will make it through to the end. Either proceed with confidence that the protocols will work OR admit it just isn't going to happen this year. But this hybrid of plow ahead full speed until the inevitable happens is a cowardly compromise born of feckless "leadership."

They didn't say football wouldn't make it through to the end.

The PIAA recognizes that some sports in the state might have a better chance to complete a season than others. In the attachment for the meeting, the Sports Medicine Advisory Steering Committee said that sports with large numbers and physical contact have challenges, while the chances for student-athletes to compete in tennis and golf “appear to be likely and may have a good chance of completing a season.”

We cancelled all our youth sports, and rumor has it the SB would rather not have piaa events either. Even the proposed school schedule is fear mongering with one week on, and one week off. I don't see anything normal till 21-22 school year for us
