Where's the fairness unless every team plays every regularly scheduled game?

If D5 has just four teams in its playoffs some teams may have played only six games.

I think the WPIAL only planned on a seven game schedule with the idea of a shortened season and condensed postseason in mind. I guess by the LHAC and other local leagues pressing on with 9-10 game schedules, then maybe they never intended to enter the state playoffs in the first place.

Ironically Conemaugh Valley is looking good in 6A today. They are currently ranked fourth. The next four weeks are Blacklick Valley, Meyersdale, an off week and Conemaugh Township. Their last two scheduled games against Winder and Berlin will likely be canceled by the District 5 playoffs.

So here it is...

Playoffs will begin week 8 (10/23) for 1A-3A and week 9 (10/30) for 4A-6A. Teams have until the 11th to opt out.

1A - 12 teams
2A - 8 teams
3A - 4 teams
4A - 2 teams

That’s a six week regular season.

Why didn't they cut A to 8 teams so nobody had a bye? Are the schools who are getting the byes going to look for opponents to fill that week? There's no guarantee that next week will happen this year.

The ADs already have it rough this season, but I hope they can find opponents when they lose even more games due to their opponents being in the playoffs. I hope that the ADs in the playoffs who are eliminated early work to come back to regular season games to try to get as close to 10 games in per school as possible.

Dave, why would it matter if teams don't play 10 games? Just thinking out loud here. Wit the current climate being what it is, be grateful we get the games we got, move forward, and hope to GOD that things settle more back to normal for the indoor winter seasons.
