Re: Crossover LHAC
I would say Penn Cambria vs BG, both have the same record (9-0), same combined opponents record (38-43), and a similar opponents opponents record (BG 387-342, Penn Cambria 363-366)EnzoLigoniere wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2024, 2:22 pm Which crossover game is the most evenly matched game.
on paper, it looks like Forest Hills vs Central , not only evenly matched but has the most riding on the outcome as play off position and a home game goes to the winner.
Forest Hills vs Central would be probably second then, both 5-4, Central 45-36 FH 42-39, Central 350-379 FH 359-370

Re: Crossover LHAC
Bedford vs Clearfield was 7-0 in favor of Clearfield at the half.
Now 28-0 Clearfield still in the 3rd Quarter without Bedford running an Offensive play yet with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd.

Re: Crossover LHAC
Great night of games with many being decided by a few points.
Went to the FH game, I don’t know how the FH faithful listen to that PA announcer every game. He never stopped talking and tried to describe every play in total detail. He would be better off doing radio. Game was great, it seemed like FH dominated but a couple goal line stands gave Central a chance at the end. They battled with a freshman QB but turnovers finally did them in.
I caught the end of the championship game on the way home, what a great game. Unfortunately the officials will be the story with how the game ended. I’m not sure how that can happen in any game, let alone in that big of a game. Next up, playoffs!

I would more say FH held against a JV qb. Central going for the win with a two point play was a questionable decision. Central season ends ugly in Cresson next week. No question if Muhler was healthy, Central would be hosting next week

Re: Crossover LHAC
5 one-score games, including the championship game is pretty uncanny. Everyone got a competitive game right before the playoffs. Good weekend for the new super-conference.
Should every school in District 5 and 6 just join the LHAC and get one mega big school/small school conference? Just make a mini WPIAL and just have all the teams under one banner and have somewhat the same scheduling format for all the teams...in every sport? Strength in numbers, consistency in playoff bracket/seeding, more competition, easier on officials?

Re: Crossover LHAC
And Forest Hills playing without one of their best players on both sides of the ball, Top 10 player in the league Xander Richardson hasn’t has an impact on their season? Let alone losing their top lineman and the past several games, without the best kicker (IMO) in the league last night, #66 playing on one leg most of the season.CoffinCorner wrote: ↑October 25th, 2024, 11:14 pm I would more say FH held against a JV qb. Point being, injuries are a part of the football, especially at this point. The better teams have guys step up and make the best of it, others make excuses.
Kudos to FH for salvaging their season and still hosting a playoff game despite being bitten by the injury bug all season long.
That was a terrific game last night, with both Central and FH showing resolve in several key situations. My take on the 2 point conversion after watching their PAT in the 1st half was that they figured it was probably just as likely to get the 2 as opposed to the one. Plus don’t you always go for the win on the road?
I saw the sprinklers already on last night in Sidman after the game preparing for next week’s matchup with Tyrone!

Re: Crossover LHAC
No question Xander could be 2025 Gavin Herald but they also have a running back who is as good as anyone in the area, how many kids have a 290 game this year.
Not quite the same as playing a true freshman qb on the road with one week of prep.
If Cornell or Walk was not able to play next week that team loses. But if it was Papinchak or Woomer, not the same problem.

You don’t lose a top 10 player on both sides of the ball and get better. You don’t lose a top lineman on your team and get better. You don’t lose the best kicker your school has ever had, and get better.CoffinCorner wrote: ↑October 26th, 2024, 7:56 am No question Xander could be 2025 Gavin Herald but they also have a running back who is as good as anyone in the area, how many kids have a 290 game this year.

To your point, yes, QB’s are obviously a huge part of that discussion as well.
Just was pointing out Central isn’t the only team dealing with injuries. CC lost their starting QB, and somehow managed to go on a winning streak anyways.
Depth makes a team as well.
