LHAC seems to have a clear top 4.

Johnstown (8-0)
Penn Cambria (8-0)
Central (7-0)
Bishop Guilfoyle (6-1)

Some other local schools are having undefeated season so far:
Berlin (8-0), Portage (10-0), United (10-0)

I feel like Berlin is at least in the discussion with those Laurel Highlands teams. Portage and United are definitely not as good, but certainly nice teams.

I guess I jinxed Portage because they lost to Windber last night.

But I agree about Berlin, they're absolutely on par with those four LHAC teams.

Johnstown looks like the best team so far.

Johnstown has won their 9 games by an average margin of 30 points so I would have to agree.

With nationally ranked Imhotep Charter and Neumann-Goretti both playing in AAAA there is pretty much no chance of Johnstown, Central, or anyone else in AAAA winning a state championship this year.

Johnstown is good, but maybe we wait until they play teams like Central, PC, and BG before we say they have no competition. Berlin could hang with any LHAC team.

Johnstown is good because they have two guards that can score 30 on a given night...even sometimes in the same game. I actually think the Tisinger kid could eventually grow into a D1 player when it's all said and done, and there really aren't too many of those hanging around in District 6. Johnstown just doesn't have much size, so the AAAA playoffs will be tough for them.

There are only four AAAA teams locally, so Johnstown and Central are playing for one bid to the state tournament.

But I think any of the four main LHAC teams could beat the other on the right night and I do believe Berlin would be right in that mix. I noticed Berlin is playing New Castle, the top 6A team in the WPIAL to close out the regular season. I appreciate their play anyone anywhere mentality.
