Best Boys Hoops team?
Re: Best Boys Hoops team?
Berlin dropped out to have an independent schedule. https://www.maxpreps.com/pa/berlin/berl ... /schedule/Colonel Mustard wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 10:34 am Two questions, why isn't Berlin in the West Pac play-offs and why is the LHAC still using CC (I know the answer, just my annual gripe)?

1st question: IDK. 2nd question: Politics and $$. I feel your pain every year.Colonel Mustard wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 10:34 am Two questions, why isn't Berlin in the West Pac play-offs and why is the LHAC still using CC (I know the answer, just my annual gripe)?

They're willing to host, centrally located at the 22 and 219 intersection, and it's a decent sized gym. Same reason they get a bunch of state playoff games too.
Richland is a nicer gym/would be a better host.

So, are they planning to play in the ICC next year? Seems a little extreme. Yes they would have dominated the WPAC, but that's ok. They still could have played a bunch of tough non-conf games. Is the coach trying to showcase his stars? Isn't that what travel ball is for?12HankQB wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 1:11 pmBerlin dropped out to have an independent schedule. https://www.maxpreps.com/pa/berlin/berl ... /schedule/Colonel Mustard wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 10:34 am Two questions, why isn't Berlin in the West Pac play-offs and why is the LHAC still using CC (I know the answer, just my annual gripe)?

I don't know if it is okay if you're trying to be competitive in state playoffs. You have to be prepared to play the Imani Christian/Kennedy types with a clear advantage. Toughest schedule you can handle certainly helps that. They've always had great non-conference games, this year allowed for more. It's a very special group and the right move for this year since able to do so before next year. Beating schools by 50-60 vs having competitive games. I like it for this year for sure.Colonel Mustard wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 2:43 pmSo, are they planning to play in the ICC next year? Seems a little extreme. I posted this last year, but you need to be as prepared as possible for state playoffs as a public school. Last non open enrollment school to win 1A? JV in 1996.

Yes, it definitely would. And it's not like it's isolated on a mountaintop in the middle of nowhere.Crimson's Ghost wrote: ↑February 15th, 2023, 2:33 pm They're willing to host, centrally located at the 22 and 219 intersection, and it's a decent sized gym. Re: Best Boys Hoops team?
I get it, the goal is a state championship. But wouldn't winning the last West Pac title be cool too? Especially of they don't win states? They played a lot of WP teams anyway.
The Heritage played their championship at IUP. Can the LHAC not afford to play at the Mount or St. Francis?

Meh, I don't think it would've been worth playing that full schedule.Colonel Mustard wrote: ↑February 16th, 2023, 9:21 am I get it, the goal is a state championship. But wouldn't winning the last West Pac title be cool too? Especially of they don't win states? They played a lot of WP teams anyway.
