Forfeits...

Post by Coach »

Went to a match last night. One team has 7 guys. It was down to the end (152 and 160). The team that would win the match was not in question. The team to send out first at 152 could have chosen to move their wrestler to 160, so both athletes could get a match. Instead, their guy took a forfeit and then the wrestler at 160 had to take a forfeit.

Why does this happen?

Just speculative, but with such few athletes perhaps the 152 was actually a 138 or 145 who already bumped up a class to “fill” a spot. I don’t think you’re allowed to go up more than 2 classes

How many teams, locally, do not field an entire team to cover all the weight classes?
Thanks!

Richland and FH both FF one match last night, Greater Johnstown FF 6 matches to CR, Tyrone FF one match to LV, CC FF 4 matches to WH, Meyersdale and NS both FF two matches.

I don't know if all these FF were from lack of a full roster/illness/grades or otherwise but FF as you can see are pretty regular nowadays.
