After suffering a loss to Southern Columbia in the semifinals of the PIAA Dual Championships on Friday night, Chestnut Ridge didn’t show any signs of a letdown on Saturday.

The Lions, ranked fifth by PA Power Wrestling, dominated Burrell, 44-10, in the consolation semifinals and beat third-ranked Saucon Valley, 36-31, in the consolation finals at the Giant Center.

The score against Saucon Valley is deceiving because Ridge forfeited the final two bouts.

Ridge, which ended the regular season with an 18-2 record, finished in third place for the third straight year and placed in the top four for the fifth time since 2013.

In the dual team championships, never.

After getting a few minutes to review this, I see that since the inception of the dual meet championship, Reynolds has won 7 state titles. During the span of 2011 - 2014, Bethlehem Catholic took 4 straight. I remember those years as everyone was just going for 2nd because it was a forgone conclusion that Beca had it wrapped up. And when you look at the scores you see why. There was a lot of pressure for them to move up to AAA, which they finally did in 2015. That was the first year the Lions made the finals (lost to Boiling Springs). In the 6 years since moving to AAA, Beca has won 3 more state titles, came in 2nd once, and placed 3rd this year. It's likely had they stayed in AA they would have won at least 4 or 5 more titles in AA.
