Thanks for posting the info Aoki11. Thats pretty cool that we have a kid playing for Saint Francis. Let me know if the other kids actually make the team for the D3 schools. One thing you have to watch for is if you get to play in any of the all-star games at the end of the season (like the PA senior scholastic all star game in shippensburg or the Public Opinion/Herald mail all star game in greencastle) is that college coaches will send all kinds of recruitment papers showing interest in you coming to their school, but actually making the team is usually tough. Best of luck to all these guys.

Thanks for the heads up on Rockwood. That was one team that I did not have a chance to watch this past season. I'll have to try to catch one of their games this year.

We will have to keep in touch this soccer season. You can keep me updated on teams up your way and I can fill you in on the teams around here.

Absolutely my friend. I will definitely be posting this season. Now that I'm back in somerset county I will be able to get to even more games.

Good point about the all star games, there was one after the season this year called the Santa Fund game. North vs. South. Basically somerset and Bedford counties vs. Cambria. I got a hold of the Souths roster:

Bedford: Blake Baier and Garrett Thomas
Salisbury: Dan Lichty and Andrew Miller
Somerset: seth law, ryan mcillveen and sam Hayward
North Star: Branden Steele, Austin Swihura and Jake Scrimager
Berlin: Andrew Deeter and Jon Pribelsky
Windber: Lucas Leitenberger, Adam Feather and Jesse Sloan
Conemaugh Township: Jeff Callihan, Eli Wenger and Russell Grunza
South won 4-0 and dominated. Swihura was named MVP.

Here's how the scoring went:
Goal - Swihura, assist - Scrimager
Leitenberger, Swihura
Thomas, Scrimager
Law, Swihura

Bedford and Somerset county were loaded.

looking at the proposed rankings.... the only things I might switch is nbc and fm might be too low and I think windber and rockwood would flip flop.... only my opinion

glad to see action on here

I have coached in the area for about 15 years. The level of play has only gotten better. The North Star team from last year is the best I have seen in D5 and generally, the top teams now are a step above those of 10-15 years ago.

Cricket, I agree totally. I personally think based on what I saw last year rock wood will be best in the district.

Me. Reliable, this might be a difficult question to answer but who do you think we're the top 5 players last year in d5? Anybody answer that, I just figured Reliable might have a better gauge on it since he's a coach and sees the players more

Sorry former wildcat, I looked at another post and mixed you and Mr. Reliable up. But that question was directed towards you

As somebody who played last season this would be my top 5:

1. Austin Swihura - offensive player of the year (so. County), all state, all region, #11 ranked player in PA
2. Ryan McIlveen - Defensive Player of the year (so. County)
3. Branden Steele - 8 goals and 8 assists as Center Back including 3 in the playoffs 2 that were game winning
4. Rus Grunza - arguably the most consistent player in d5 over the past 4 years
5. Jeff Callihan and Sam Hayward - if you want somebody who can command there defense you want Hayward, if you want someone who can make miraculous game changing saves you want Callihan. Problem is both those attributes are equally important. Co - Goalkeepers of the year.

I played with all these guys at some point, all awesome players. That's my list.

I like that HG.

Lucas Leitenberger and Preston Miller are two that could be considered for the top 5.
