Pirates - Month of July thread

Post by Coach »

Second place and coming off an extra inning win over Detroit. Watson has given up some big homers. I'm glad they overcame things last night.

A second win over Detroit... I would not want to face the Tigers lineup very often.

Head scratcher for me over the weekend. Locke was great yesterday , but inconsistent before that to be nice and has been up and down for 2 years since all star appearance. Main reason he gets so much leeway is that lefty arms are treasured by most. .... That being said , I can't understand why the Bucs left Richard go to the Cubs no less, for basically nothing. I know about his contract clause, but all Bucs had to do is add him to 40 man to keep him. With Tallion going down again and losing rest of year, why lose another arm you control?

Cole, Burnett, Melancon and Cutch headed to the All Star game! Great to see Burnett make it after 17 years!

I'm so sick of clueless minions voting in their favorites to the All Stars. Let the Coaches or even sportswriters who actually know the game inside and out put the absolute BEST players on the field against the absolute BEST from the other team. -THAT- is an ALL STAR game, not a popularity contest or ballot box stuffing contest.
It ain't over until it's over.

I know they have scouts everywhere, but it was noted Bucs had scouts in Oakland to watch Kazmir

53 wins at the break. In the NL Central, I think it's going to take 96 to win it. I really hope they add Francour. Would be a nice 4th OF. I'd also like to see the Bucs add an INF bench player. I love Rodrigeuz, but he can't be counted on to play on a regular basis with Harrison out for 7 weeks.

Definitely have put themselves in a good position heading into the 2nd half. They could play .500 baseball the 2nd half and still finish with 90 wins!
