Word from Schefter is that it will be the stiffest suspension in NFL history.

What's the hockey equivalent of taking a 6 pound helmet and smashing it over someone's head?

There's been a number of stick offenses, boarding, etc.    But hockey isn't played by big black men.

In hockey its probably similar to someone intentially swinging their stick at someones head, which the NHL takes too lightly IMO.

Indefinitely makes sense, get him out of everything immeaditely, come back in 2-6 months to finite the suspension

It means we tend to overreact to on field violence when it involves NFL players compared to hockey players.  Heck, in baseball, throwing a 100 MPH fastball in the vicinity of an opposing players head is often declared to be mere chin music.

Another example of something that needs to be punished a whole lot more.
We have learned so much about head injuries in the past 20 years any type of targeting of the head is not acceptable or excuseable at any time

I don't really watch hockey, so I don't know if they use their equipment as weapons following the play.
But based on how the entire NFL reacted, players, former players, coaches etc. I'm thinking the Myles Garrett thing is a little bit bigger than you realize, and I tend to not think race has much to do with it.  James Harrison was thinking a one year jail sentence for Garrett, so...

Garret got indefinite suspension (at least for this year and he has to get re-instated at some point next year)
Pouncey got 3 games (for doing what most O linemen would do in the same situation)
Ogunjobi got 1 game
Browns and Steelers organization each got $250K fines.
