All Star Break

Post by dadw/2sons »

The players on the Pirates' team have done their job. They have battled hard and reached the break at .500. now it is up to the ownership to do something to help them out. Do it NOW. The first 9 games after the break could very well make or break the entire season, whether they make the playoffs or not. We all know how good the Phillies are and the next 2 series are against the Cardinals ad Diamondbacks. The Cards and Snakes are directly in front of the Bucs and these 2 series are extremely important. We need a bat and we need that bat NOW!! Nutting please do what is right or just sell the team and get your profit and let someone that really wants to win own the team.

Manfred: please do not respond to this post. We all know you are a Pirate hater. True Pirates fans really do not want to hear what you have to say.

Too bad. It's an open forum. If you personally don't like what I or anyone else has to say, put them on 'ignore' and go back in the basement with Brandon. 3 HS players in the 1st 3 picks? Don't expect any help from them in the next 2-3 years. By then Nutting will have traded Skenes, Jones, Keller, Cruz, Reynolds elsewhere. The more some things change the more they stay the same.

Any thoughts on who you want the pirates to target? I’ve heard Jazz is being shopped around by Miami, not sure on your opinion on that. He is a little of a showboat but has a good glove in a center and a solid left handed bat. Not sure what we would have to give up for him but seeing how they traded Arraez for basically nothing he could be cheap. Also to Manfred not sure if you know this but every player you named is under contract for a while so maybe think before you post that they’ll all be traded in 2 years.

Contracts do NOT preclude a team from trades! All you have to do is a little looking back over the years to see this is a well known Pirate tactic. FWIW, I grew up with the Bucco's as my team, even through all the lean years. Thats putting it mildly, lean. I don't follow contracts, I follow results. As I grew older I got sick and tired of the same old same old, and withdrew far enough to see what is actually going on with Bucco leadership. More like succo.

I do not want them to pursue Jazz. He does fit the Pirates team chemistry. I would like them to go after the young outfielder from there Dodgers, Outman is his name, I think. Send one of the 2 lefties for him, either Perez or Gonzalez. The Dodgers are desperate for pitching let's see if they would take a bite. If not him then I would like to see Bleday from the A's. Local guy that is controllable for a while. Don't know what would take to get him.

This is the kind of talk I wanted to hear on this post, but we all know we can't keep the haters from spewing their lack of knowledge here.

James Outman is in the minor leagues after hitting a whopping 156 for the Dodgers. JJ Bleday is hitting 230. You might as well stick with Jack Suwinski.

It's almost amusing that my opinion of the Pirates is roughly the same as the long-time Pittsburgh sports reporter/ writer Mark Madden. I suggest you read his daily columns and get a solid different opinion.

I read Rumbunter and he writes there sometimes. Al i'm saying we don't want to hear your hate on a post that is talking about people giving opinions on what the Pirate's do to help the team now.

Outman could potentially help but im not sure id be a fan of his, Bleday seems like an easier acquisition considering how the As are sellers every year. To me the most likely target is Ward from Los Angeles don’t know what his price tag would be.

Bucco haters will always be around, as a life long pirate fan you just have to push past their pessimist opinions and understand that no one wants to be a fan when they’re team sucks but when the young kids reach the potential the “fans” resurface. Living near our double A team I’ve seen countless future Buccos and it gives me tons of hope for the future.

Yeah I understand Outman might a reach, but another one could be Winker from the Nationals. It shouldn't take much to get him.
