Westmont is already renting Johnstown's track this season so I'm guessing it would become too congested.

Windber went without a track for a number of years prior to currently having two. They were quite successful without a home track. Javelin in the front lawn. Discus and shot in a parking lot. Hurdles and sprinters on the road behind the school. Distance ran through the woods. Get creative people and play with the hand your dealt.

My friend coaches at Blacklick Valley and he said they never asked to use Central Cambria's track.

Don't know the details of Richland denying McCort the use of the track but I wouldn't necessarily call it petty. How much was McCort willing to pay in rent? Track is not a cheap sport. Track resurfacing done every 10 years costs 200K. Replacing Pole Vault/High Jump mats every 10-15 years is another 30K. Maintenance to jumping and throwing areas? Another cost. So not knowing what McCort was willing to pay for "rent" and knowing what it costs to maintain a track facility let alone liability issues I wouldn't call Richland petty for now allowing McCort to use the track. If it were me charging rent would be at least at least $100/day X 60 days (12 wk season) or $6000.

Did Bishop McCort contact UPJ? They have a nice, little used track.
I know UPJ allows local high schools to use its pool for swim meets. I wonder how much wear and tear these cause on an underused pool?
Thanks for amusing us all, southpaw!
