The winner of the 3rd annual BC/Wade Grimes Mem. Scholarship
The winner of the 3rd annual BC/Wade Grimes Mem. Scholarship
And the winner of the 2006 BC/Wade Grimes Memorial Scholarship is........... Matt Shaffron of Northern Bedford! I got the voting information out to multiple people around the area (including a person I know from Michigan) and had a voting session at Hoss's available to anybody. After tallying the votes, Matt received the most first place votes and the most total votes overall. This year was extremely tough with there being an abundance of quality applicants. I hope to have 20+ voters next year, so keep this in mind if you would like to help participate in the process of picking the winner!
We are proud to give this scholarship to yet another outstanding student-athlete. Matt will be going to Duquesne where he will be majoring in pharmacy and he may also participate in track and field (I will get an update from Matt soon).
Here are some of Matt's major accomplishments both academically and athletically:

Matt, if you're on the board just letting you know... i've been at duquesne for a year now, have any questions about it or anything don't be afraid to ask!!!
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

Re: The winner of the 3rd annual BC/Wade Grimes Mem. Scholar
Matt, congratulations on winning this scholarship and good luck at Duquesne. I am very happy for you. I have known you since you was little and couldn't believe it when I seen you won because I didn't know you was a senior in high school already. Wow, time really flies.
Wade would be very happy to know this scholarship is in its third year in memory of him. Thank you to everyone that helps make this happen.

Having coached Matt for the past four years, I can say definitively that he was an excellent choice. He was a great student-athlete with a wonderful work ethic.
