Re: 08 COACHING
windber has been down in talent since the slacoffs? (spelling) graduated. it should not be the coaches fault that the players are not the same caliber as the slacoffs. Charney has done well with what they have given him. there is no need for him to be outsed.

Re: 08 COACHING
I'm not sure if he was ousted (or) plain just quit  :?: Kevin & Chad (I imagine) have been under the heat as of late...
Why? Various reasons... When you don't win at Windber, you get replaced real quick, regardless of (who's faults) they are...
People in Windber don't sit well with loosing, That's a fact :!:  There's lots of parents that are complainers that their kid isn't starting (or) playing...
Kevin Charney is an "Old school" coaching style & it's not fitting into today's society of kids who think that they run the show  & dictate to the school board who they'd like to have as their coach.
I remember a certain coach a few years back, that coached at Windber Basketball... & he went 19-3 & was fired
Also Windber is meshed & very tight knit & you have better fit the billing / mold (If) your going succeed wearing Royal Blue & White... Standards are high & folks are whinny when their not on top...They need to learn how to loose... this isn't the professional ranks where it'sd a business of sorts
There's a lot of teams out there, that would give their eye-teeth to have (half) as many wins, as The Ramblers have accumilated over the years...
With this being said, i hope who ever is in line for the New Windber Area High School Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, can take them back to The Promised Land, because if they don't, you'll read another wanted add...

CHOPS,
you are right about the talent dropping at Windber. I remember a fews years back when they were undefeated in every sport and now they aren't very good at all. Look at the football team, once a powerhouse, now they are an average team in the westpac. Could you imagine if they played some LHAC teams like basketball does. I shouldn't comment too much because I didn't see many Windber games over the years, just when they played westmont, but I dont think they were out coached, Westmont just had better players.

CHOPS,
HMMMMM, WONDERING WHAT COACH YOU ARE REFERRING TO THAT WENT 19-3 AND GOT FIRED??
NOT ONLY DO I NOT RECALL A WINDBER COACH GETTING "FIRED" FOR ABOUT 13 YEARS I REALLY DONT REMEMBER A RECORD OF 19-3??
JUST CURIOUS??
I GUESS ALL THE WINDBER TALK IS BECAUSE THAT IS THE JOB THAT WAS RECENTLY POSTED IN THE PAPER? OR ARE WE ALL SURE THAT WINDBER IS THE ONLY JOB THAT IS GOING TO BECOME AVAILABLE? AS I SEE IT OTHER SCHOOLS HAVE BEEN UNDERACHIEVING AS OF LATE TOO AND MIGHT SEE OTHER JOBS OPENING UP AS WELL.
AND JUST FOR REFERENCE THE TALENT POOL AT WINDBER ISNT DRY IT WILL NEVER BE DRY AT WINDBER.

Re: 08 COACHING
Hi! BIG,
I believe it was Brian Gennette, who got sent on his way ?? & I'm pretty sure that his final year was 19-3 ?.. but there was lots of under-tones being thrown around to get rid of him, no matter if they would have won the Western Finals...
I'll have to check on those numbers but I'm pretty sure that The Ramblers went 19-3 that year.
Maybe someone from that team could fill us in on what went down ???

Re: 08 COACHING
O.K. 16 & 9 That's still a pretty darn good record to be let go of... How many teams out there would just love to go 16-9 & not have to worry about loosing their coach...
Thanks for setting that record straight

Re: 08 COACHING
YEAH CHOPS I WASN'T TRYING TO SOUND HARSH WHEN I QUESTIONED THE COACH..
I TOO KNEW THAT THE RECORD WAS 16-9 THATS WHY I WAS CONFUSED
AND 16-9 WAS A MAJOR UNDER-ACHIEVEMENT WITH THAT TEAM
THEY HAD ALL MAJOR PARTS RETURNING FROM A DISTRICT CHAMPION THE PREVIOUS YEAR. AND LOSING TO A SUB-PAR EVERETT TEAM AT HOME IN THE PLAYOFFS WAS THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMELS BACK AS THEY SAY.
3 RETURNING STARTERS AND A 1,000 POINT SCORER SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST GOTTEN THEM TO THE TITLE GAME.
AND KEEP IN MIND A YEAR AFTER THE FIRING WINDBER WENT 25-4 AND ADVANCED TO THE 2ND ROUND OF THE STATE TOURNAMENT. SO THERE IS A LOT TO BE SAID ABOUT SOME "NEW BLOOD" IT WORKED BEFORE TO REJUVENATE THE PROGRAM. I SEE NO REASON WHY IT WON'T WORK THIS TIME TOO.
ALBEIT NOT THE SAME CALIBER OF PLAYERS BUT THIS YEARS WINDBER TEAM ALSO RETURNED 3 STARTERS FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND UNDER-ACHIEVED. SO I THINK HISTORY IS GOING TO REPEAT ITSELF. AND TRUST ME CHOPS YOU WILL NOT BE USING THE TERM "DRIED UP TALENT" IN THE COMING YEARS
