Chadbourn To Return
Re: Chadbourn To Return
At first glance it seems like a great idea to let him dress, but his teammates, the fans, the coaches would so much like to see him cap his senior year with a big game that I can't imagine dressing him and then keeping him off the field--unless it was made clear that he wouldn't play--and then why dress?CoffinCorner wrote:Let him go through warmups, let him dress with his team mates.
But as far as playing I agree the risk out weighs the benefit
Re: Chadbourn To Return
If he's medically cleared to play, gets the reps in practice, and there are no setbacks, I hope he plays. I'm sure he has kept Lehigh in the discussion loop. I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster that this kid has been on this year. I for one, hope he makes it back for the state championship game and has a career game. 5 months out from the injury and there's a good chance he can play...tells ya what kind of work ethic he has. He definitely deserves it!

My question is how does the PIAA handle situations like this as far as the "heat acclimation" practices? Does he still have to since its later in the season? If so he would have needed to practice this week.

"WHEN 100 %"! If he sees the field, he'd be a decoy.InsideZone wrote:As much as I would like to see him play in the state championship game I don't see the benefit. He is better than the supporting cast. Even though they have some good players within that group. Kid can flat out score from any position on the field.

Re: Chadbourn To Return
Maybe so Manfred... but I'll take 80% of Chadbourn over many other players at 100%. With all that being said, I hope he's able to finish his high school career PLAYING on the field in Hersey. I'm not necessarily a BG fan but wishing him and his teammates a 3rd straight title.
Re: Chadbourn To Return
At this stage of the playoffs, I too pull for any local team over a non-local. I too think it would be nice for him to end his HS career ON the field. The question then becomes, is his presence on the field going to be seamless, like he never was injured, or is his being out there, taking a healthy players spot, actually going to hurt the team? Esp. him not being at full strength. Much like the Pirates and McCutcheon.

Tyrone did the same thing with Johnny Franco in 2007, he broke his leg and missed all the regular season. He then returned and played in the D6-AA Championship game and it was not a good outcome. If I was BG I wouldn't let him play, he would risk injury, he isn't up to game speed, and I believe it would hurt the team.
