Next Crusher Coach
With Basil hanging up his cleats, who will be the new leader for the Crushers? I would think that Tom Smith would be the leading candidate??? Are there still struggling numbers at the Jr. High level? Not an uncommon thing in the area.

I would think if you want outside the program type guy you look at Ripple from Richland, He was widely rumored to be the favorite at Johnstown until politics reared its head. He's well thought of as one of the best young assistants in the area.
Tony Penna is a name that gets mentioned a lot, he's well respected around McCort and great with kids. He'd be a great fit and it a solid offensive coach combined with Smith coaching defense.
In-house one would have to assume Tom Smith gets his shot. But he also wears many hats and some schools are odd about principals holding head coaching titles.

My vote is for Smitty. He’s enthusiastic dedicated and great with kids.
Re: Next Crusher Coach
He also knows a little bit about coaching football.

With the launching of the McCort Blended Academy, if Smith (who is the principal and chief administration officer of BMCHS) is hired as head coach, what advantages would this give BM to their football program? According to the Tribune, Smith said, "This new addition to McCort allows students from a far greater region to enroll." He gave the example of students from Greensburg and Bedford now being able to attend the school. Students will be able to fully participate in McCort sports. Any advantage there??

Hopefully.

Hey, it worked for the Lift Scholarships, right? Give McCort credit for finding ways to make that playing field uneven. Advantages of the Blended Academy in sports is genius.

Re: Next Crusher Coach
Yea, that 5 win football team this year really took advantage.
Re: Next Crusher Coach
Maybe they would have only won 3 games, who knows. Oh but BM is trying again. What is the biggest deterrent keeping kids from attending BM? MONEY, of course. Let's say a good athlete from Ferndale or CV would finally like to play for a half-decent team for a change. The new Blended Academy has the answer. 1) Full year tuition would be $3500 instead of almost $7300. That's quite a savings. Might be just a enough for a kid to change schools. 2) Only would have to attend school 2 days a week instead of 5. 3) Would be allowed FULL participation in McCort sports programs and clubs. 4) And finally, when the athlete applies for admission to the Academy, he is interviewed by non-other than the Head Football Coach who is the principal and chief administrator. How they gonna turn him down? This is genius.
