Re: McCort Wrestling
Why does McCort get to "opt out" of a dual season? If they're in the conference, shouldn't they have to wrestle a conference schedule like any other team, or do they get to wait until they have a loaded lineup? If that's the case, why don't other schools with low numbers just wrestle tournaments?
Re: McCort Wrestling
I don't think they are opting out of the dual meet schedule. I believe the LHAC didn't create a schedule for them when they made the conference schedule two years ago. They are supposed to have a dual meet schedule within the LHAC next year.

Re: McCort Wrestling
I'm curious as to why the LHAC wouldn't have created a schedule for them. Hasn't McCort had the program back for a few years now?

Per the Tribune Democrat, a federal judge upheld the two year postseason ban on the Bishop McCort wrestling program and went as far as stating that McCort was clearly recruiting.

Ouch! It would be great if that judge became the Mountain Landis of the PIAA and replaced that cold bag of soup currently in charge.old school wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 2:09 pm https://www.tribdem.com/news/federal-co ... b84b5.html

In the end, the only ones that are losing out are the kids. Wrestling isn't a team sport anyway.....its an individual sport....whoever wins the PIAA State Championship in 2023 at Bo Bassetts weight should have an asterisk by their name in the record books....they didn't win because they were the best, they won because adults protected from wrestling the best....it's actually sad....suspend the team from duals, but let them wrestle individually.....
Re: McCort Wrestling
100% agree. Kids got caught up in the PIAA politics, it’s sad actually.LVCoachFoust wrote:In the end, the only ones that are losing out are the kids. If you look at the joke that is the PIAA team championship today you’ll see 4 teams in the finals that have kids who transferred from out of state on every roster. Yet District 11 does nothing because it allows them to be the powerhouse district in the state.

Re: McCort Wrestling
It's a game McCort wanted to play though. If all of these adults really cared about the kids that much, they would have compromised and worked together and prevented this situation from even happening. Instead, Bassett and some parents decided their glory-chasing and petty power sqabbles were more important than kids. Their egos led them to break rules and distegard ethics. They knew what the consequences could be and disregarded them and now they are facing those consequences. Don't blame the authority for enforcing them. Blame the selfish coaches and parents who caused the situation in the first place. Sure the kids lose out, but those closest to them didn't seem to care enough to put them first protect their eligibility and careers. It's certainly not my job to.LVCoachFoust wrote: ↑February 11th, 2022, 10:39 pm In the end, the only ones that are losing out are the kids.
