Franco Retires

Post by BlueDevil2000 »

With Coach Franco retiring last week, is there expected to be any major changes with the football program? Is it known if Tyrone will be hiring internally or externally?

Congrats to Coach Franco on his retirement. He was one of the best, for sure. Always one of the toughest opponents for many teams.

Another legend retires. Looking over some notables in the past couple years: Bailey (FH), Hayes (BWA), Zambanini (CT), Paul (BER), and now Franko (TY)... Is this the end of an era for longtime successful coaches? Who is next? Shoemaker (CR)? Hats off to a lot of these guys for being successful leaders in the football community. Which coaches will become all-time legends for the future? As the famous George Jones says, "I wonder who's gonna fill their shoes, whos gonna stand that tall?

Through the rumor mill. Franco has 2 candidates in mind both internal hires. From what I've heard they are a package deal. So if one gets hired the other is staying no matter what and vice versa. Also Franco said he'd stick around and assist either one if they needed him. But you never know what the school board will do.

Franco’s son wrote a rather scathing Facebook post about the AD. Did anyone else see that? Will the AD care about his opinion?

I'd say most of Tyrone saw it. All I can say is I have never heard anyone in Tyrone say one good thing about Rhodes the AD.

I’ve never spoke to either one so I have no opinion outside I’ve thought for years that Franco was a great coach. Hopefully they listen to him to keep the program moving forward and don’t let ego take over.

So it sounds like they didn’t listen to Franco and picked another candidate?

North Star hired Landis’s main assistant. That’s a whole different subject.

Grohal does not take a HC job. Not sure if he was offered one or not?

Jason Musselman hired at Everett to takeover for Koontz.

Anyone else?
