DISTRICT 5 SOFTBALL RATINGS

Today’s Games: Hyndman vs Fannett-Metal, Hyndman vs Turkeyfoot, Shade vs North Star

Playoff Implications

A Shade win locks up 7th place for Shade. 8th place would be Conemaugh Twp. Unless Hyndman wins both of today’s games in which case they would be #8

In the event of a Shade loss. If Hyndman goes 2-0 today they become #7 and Conemaugh Twp. Becomes #8. Hyndman going 1-1 in this scenario creates a 4-team tie for the #8 seed (Rockwood, N.Bedford, Shade and Hyndman) and would force a “Play In Tournament” on Wed. May 26 for the #8 (Details to be handled by Scott Graham, Softball Chairman)

If Shade loses and Hyndman loses both games then their would be a three team tie (Shade, Rockwood, N.Bedford) for the #8 spot. Again, a three-team play in tournament would be necessary to determine the #8 seed.

Fannett-Metal will secure the #3 seed with a win over Hyndman today. A loss drops them to #4 and makes N.Star #3 if they win over Shade. A N.Star loss to Shade would create a numerical tie for 4th in the ratings but N.Star wins the tiebreaker based on criteria B Record vs common opponents. N.Star is 8-4 while Windber is 7-5 vs common opponents.

Quarterfinals Thurs. May 27

#8 Conemaugh Twp. AT #1 Turkeyfoot 4:00
#5 Windber vs #4 Fannett-Metal AT NBC 4:00

#7 Hyndman AT #2 Everett 2:30
#6 Tussey AT #3 North Star 4:00

Hyndman also had two run magic in two one run games today

Against Fannett 2 in the bottom of the fifth put them up 4-2 to later hold on 4-3. In the nightcap, 2 in the bottom of the EIGHTH gives Hyndman a 5-4 win and the #7 seed and leaves 3 teams at 9th place just 0.05 away from a playoff spot.

That's true. I knew we won by one each time but didn't realize the whole two run thing.
