8th best in the nation.......I always thought psu fans had higher standards and were proud to be #1. What's up with bragging about being #8? If you aint 1st, you aint $h!t. I cant believe you take pride in not being 1st. Isnt that what the psu nation is all about. 8th place doesnt mean much, especially when you are talking 3 years in the past. psu couldnt even come close to #7,#6,#5,#4,#3,#2,or #1.

Maybe I misunderstand your post, ham, about the 'small amount' of wacky tobaccy found on the psu players. You seemed to take slowpa's mentality and blow it off as college kids just misbehaving. How would you explain that to your young son or little brother (if you have either one) that is as avid of a psu supporter as you? Would you pull a slowpa explanation and tell him that their behavior is the norm and most college kids do it? They are just kids. And it is okay for them to do it. Or would you explain that their behavior is very inappropriate, especially in their positions of representing their and your university?

you're comparing Pitt's program to Penn State's program that has the 8th best record over the past 3 years in the NCAA by bringing up the 2000 game. In essence, you're trying to claim Pitt and PSU's equality. Which is no where near true. As the STATS have stated.

A lot of quality wins in those three yrs...like maybe one......OSU in '05

In '07 the W's were again' the likes of Fla Int, a 3-9 ND squad, Temple, Buffalo, NW, Indy & Purdue....the L's were to Mich(9-4), Illini(9-4), Oh St.(11-2), & your rival MSU who had a winning record!

'06 Wins were like Temple, Akron, Youngstown, NW, Ind. & Purdue....L's again' a 10-3 ND, Oh St (12-1) Mich (11-2) & Wisc (12-1)

Now '05 was a very good yr for Joey & crew...of course a joke of an ooc schedule & wins over a fledgling S. Fla squad, a 4-7 Cincy team & C. Mich....even @ 10-1 and playing a middle of the pack (8-5) FSU in the Orange Bowl, the top underachieving squad in the land, only prevailed due to FSU's kicker coming down w/ Restless Leg Syndorme when attempting like 5 different kicks that could have won the game!

And we don't even wish to go back one more yr ('04) when the 8th best team in the land had 4 total wins; only one coming against a team w/ a winning record....Akron!!!!!

Just think, vman, when Buffalo beats Pitt, Pitt will have lost to every school in the MAC in the past 5 seasons.

I'm not sure Pitt should be favored in any games this season except Syracuse.

As far as Marijuanagate goes, what is it going to take for these kids to stop doing this crap? What I don't understand is the sheer stupidity of it. I'm not talking about smoking weed, b/c I expect kids to do that, but I am talking about them doing it in an apartment with a bunch of other people involved. Is Andrew Quarless really that stupid? He's been in trouble 20 times!!! As soon as all the evidence comes in and there's a police charge or whatever, I am betting Quarless is playing for Florida A&M next season. And as for Koroma... nothing like being the 4th or 5th best DT on a team, getting your shot, and blowing it within a week. Mo Evans is a kid who was on track to be a 1st rd pick in the NFL and will now get that "character" tag. How stupid can you seriously get? You know, I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was 18-22 (better make that 18 to present) but I was never dumb enough to get caught. Sure, everyone drinks underage at college.... BUT NOT EVERYONE BUYS IT AND RUNS RED LIGHTS. It seriously is amazing how those kids are so brainless. But what are you supposed to do? This is Evans' first time getting in trouble, and he might not even get into any trouble with the law over this. Are you supposed to kick him off the team? Do they need to assign babysitters to these kids? Seriously, how do you fix it?

Here's exactly what happened. They let those kids get away with stuff. Now, kids get in trouble and they know they will get off. But you backed yourself into a corner, because you can't let a kid STAY for a drug offense and then kick someone off the team for making prank phone calls. You have to be fair about it. How can you make an example when you let other kids get away with worse offenses?

Quarless will be dismissed, I am guessing. He needs to be. Koroma and Evans shouldn't get more than a 2 game suspension. What I would like to know is why Bowman and Timmons are back on the team.

TAE, the problems that you speak of at PSU cannot be fixed as long as the greasy haired old gnome is able to throw the president and AD out of his house when they come to ask for his resignation and get away with it.
