Opinions on Officials
Re: Opinions on Officials
one of the reasons that guys seem old and fat is that we hire the same officials year after year..the biggest reason is that there aren't enough good, young officials to choose from....
as far as the conditioning test thing, remember that these are part-timers who have other jobs as a livelihood...most of them don't do this just for the money (just as coaches don't do what they do just for the money)...
too easy to ridicule...again, how many of you whiners do the job??? as was said, it's just so easy to sign up and pass the test....get to it...show us how to do it...and no, I still don't want the job..you can complain...just no reason to bring it to a public forum...

Re: Opinions on Officials
TO ALL WHO THINK THE OFFICIATING IS BAD, READ MY TAG LINE!
YOU KNOW WHAT I FIND AMUSING? HOW MANY FANS AND COACHES THINK THEY KNOW THE RULES BUT ARE TOTALLY CLUELESS! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE IS "HOW COULD IT BE INTERFERENCE WHEN THE PASS WAS UNCATCHABLE?" OR HOW ABOUT "THE DEFENDER DREW MY LINEMAN OFFSIDES BY MOVING BACK AND FORTH"
NONE OF OUR LOCAL OFFICIALS ARE PERFECT, THAT MUCH I ADMIT. HOWEVER, NEITHER ARE ANY OF OUR PLAYERS, COACHES, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, OR PARENTS!
THIS MUCH I DO KNOW, NONE OF OUR LOCAL OFFICIALS DO IT SOLELY FOR THE MONEY, MOST OF OUR LOCAL OFFICIALS DO IT OUT OF THEIR LOVE FOR THE GAME, AND ALL OF OUR LOCAL OFFICIALS WILL BE THE FIRST TO ADMIT THAT THEY ARE NOT PERFECT!

Re: Opinions on Officials
I heard this on recently. Hey ref, that was a horsecollar tackle. The ref said yes it was, but there isn't a rule for that in high school sports. Good post chatter.

Re: Opinions on Officials
Why arent all rules just universal for football? I dont understand why a horsecollar might be legal in high school, but in other levels its an automatic 15 yarder? Well fyi, a horsecollar tackle is just as dangerous in high school as it is in the NFL.
Well let me tell you, nLions1 is a big time friend of Janek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Opinions on Officials
I think it should be illegal to make a tackle that ISN'T a horsecollar. I'm a big advocate of injuries, get the JV kids more playing time.

Re: Opinions on Officials
If you think the horsecollar tackle is dangerous, what about the "saddle horn grab"? For you city-slickers out there, the saddle horn is the thing that sticks up between your legs when you are riding astride a Western saddle. When a defensive player grabs a runner between the legs, it called a "saddle horn grab". That's gotta hurt, especially at full speed. The referee signals the penalty by grabbing himself ala Michael Jackson, then marks off the penalty by moonwalking backwards for 15 yards. Hi Ho Silver, away!!!!

Re: Opinions on Officials
I agree with what I "THINK" EL Moldo is getting at. Football especially in the NFL is becoming very girly. In the old days men took pride in getting hurt and playing the hard nosed game of football. It was a passage into being a man going out in the yard a kicking the **** out of your brothers (sorry for language trying to get point across). Now a days football is just all about the money the players are recieving and the revenue of the NFL. Players are just concerned of their pay check and getting the next one and no one wants to get hurt because they wont get that money anymoe. I also disagree with all of these don't hit the quarterback late, and roughing the passer. WHAT THE H****!!!!!!!! Why don't they make these rules up for a middle linebacker or a center????

Re: Opinions on Officials
that's right that is why the rules are not the same for all levels of football. the NFL is becoming so weak that they make rules that are not necessary a horsecollar is dangerous at all levels but to penalize it i don't think it is necesary.
