Big Dill.
Re: McCort's so called recruiting
Now Phylis wishes to take a shot @ a hs student: "How did you get in?"......But while trying to berate a youngsters' ability he writes: "high academic standars."!! And please Phylis, enlighten us on players they have recruited?philip's dad wrote:I thought BM had a high academic standars. How did you get in? They recruit players that live in school districts other than their own to play for them. These players are usually non-Catholic who just happen to be looking for a better education AND can play football. What a coincidence!!
I have to say thank you to me ..." for not being stupid enough to go to Penn State."
Re: McCort's so called recruiting
Who have they recruited? Very simple answer: EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!
Here is why: Are there boundaries for their school or district? NOPE. By the rules that every other school has to abide by, everyone of those kids should be at a different school.

Re: McCort's so called recruiting
bigman you are out of line here. I don't have a problem with kids that is brought up through the Catholic school programs or even kids that decide to go there before 9th grade. On the other hand, I sometimes think that if your program was good, kids wouldn't go to McCort to play sports. So the home school should be held accountable. On other hand, if you have college potential, small schools don't generally get the respect that say a Mccort, Johnstown, or BC would get.
Re: McCort's so called recruiting
Hey....out of line? McCort in single A is out of line. Programs don't get recognized?? Let me tell you something. If you're good enough......you'll be recognized. The team you play on has nothing to do with it. Basically what you've said is it's ok if your team sucks to transfer somewhere else. That's against PIAA regulations.....oh wait.... for most schools it is.
It's fine that these kids go to school there. The real problem is them being in A. They should take the enrollment of the school districts that those kids LIVE in. Better yet, why doesn't McCort and salem man up and decide to move on their own?
Home school held accountable???? Do you read what you type? It's public school buddy. They don't have the choice of who comes out for their teams. They can't go pick somebody up. You're missing the point completely. The ONLY reason McCort has a psuedotradition is because of kids they bring in from OTHER school districts.
Do they have a Catholic athletic league in their elementary schools or do these kids play with all the "public school kids" in pee wee football, little league? You know what would be nice? If McCort would drop all athletic programs, afterall, most go to school there for acedamia......correct?

Re: McCort's so called recruiting
This is the crux of the problem. This young man was able to attend McCort with no questions asked. Would he have been able to transfer to Johnstown or Westmont under the same circumstances? Of course not. Even though he was not recruited, the fact that he is able to go there under these circumstances is a huge advantage for the private schools. That is why the playing field is not level and that the rules need to be changed.Zeitgeist wrote:Bill Dill wasn't recruited by anyone at McCort. His family thought it was in his best interest along with the fact he has had relatives attend there in recent years. Better luck next time.

Once a runner,
Are you saying this doesn't happen for teams like the Quips and Blackhawk (in basketball)
Of course players go where they they or their families think is the best for the kid.
Remember Windber a fews years back.

Re: McCort's so called recruiting
To whomever this concerns,
I want to finally put the Bishop McCort and recruiting topic to a rest. Seriously, it is getting old!!!! I went to McCort and played football there in the mid to late 90's and was one of the starters during Salem's first year as head coach. Never in all of my years there did I see or hear of anyone being forced to leave their public school district to come and attend McCort and play football. Also, on those teams, we had some of the best talent in all of the Laurel Highlands and even in district 6 but only reached the district championship game 1 time in those years. Salem's first year as a head coach, he coached a team that had more talent on it than most of the last district championship teams have had and we finished 5-4 and out of the playoffs. The difference is that at that time, eventhough we had a tradition of winning seasons, we never knew what it was like to get to the top of the mountain and stay there. Also at that time, we had kids on our team that were from other school districts, but you didn't here much about "the recruiting" because we weren't at the top of the mountain consistantly, like we are now. Instead of making excuses for your public school districts losing to McCort now, you should put all that effort in making your own programs better instead of pointing your finger at a school that hasn't been charged with any crimes by the PIAA. Until that happens or they are found guilty of it and penalized, give it up. In the end, isn't it the parents that have the ultimate decision to send their kids to or not to McCort. Alot of you posters need to get a life and start rooting for these kids, instead of damning them for a decision to go to another school that isn't your own!!!! In my mind it is nothing but jealous rage on all of your parts. GOOD LUCK CRUSHERS. BRING HOME THE STATE TITLE!!!

Re: McCort's so called recruiting
How can everyone do that when the good players required to make our "own programs better" transfer to Bishop McCort (recruiting or not). See the point everyone is tirelessly trying to make? Some schools have no excuse...becuase no one from their district plays for mccort or if they do they've been going there their whole life...which is fair.crimsonandgold wrote:To whomever this concerns,

But recruiting or not...Ferndale will be at a disadvantage without Bill Dill..and thats why everyone gets in a huff....
Imagine if suddenly Ferndale had a good basketball team. They found a way to win and got better as the season progressed. They make it to the D6 playoffs and who do they play...lets say they play McCort. So Ferndale takes the court with 4 talented players and one guy who has struggled to find his groove all year. That one guy plays the same position as Dill and gets matched up against him on offense and defense. Dill overpowers him and the rest of game is even..and let's say mccort wins by 5.
The point is...if Dill never goes to McCort, Ferndale wins that game...so even if the allegations (which have been around for years and will never go away) arent true...McCort taking players from other schools puts those schools at a significant disadvantage

Re: McCort's so called recruiting
Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't happen at other schools, but because someone else does something illegal, does that make it legal for everyone? You'll have to educate me about Windber, I have no idea what you are talking about. If you play by the rules, for a public school kid to transfer to another public school they have to move into that district. The private schools do not have the same rule. You can live anywhere and attend a private school. I would like anyone to tell me how that is not an advantage.Dessert wrote:Once a runner,
