Re: A-11
you might be right that the piaa might not get it done for next year. although i have heard discussion about it so they might have a jump on it already. as far as the field goal on 3rd down goes, that might be still allowed as long as the holder is already set up on the ground. if a fake happens off that then the defense might have to be ready for that. I'm not saying that i'm against inovations i'm just saying that i've heard discussion about the change to get rid of that loophole in the rule.

Re: A-11
Those that are arguing that teams around here do not have enough skill players to run it are missing the point of the offense. The offense was developed to give an outmanned team an advantage.

Re: A-11
Not much of an advantage if you dont have the players to run it.

Re: A-11
All,
FYI the PIAA does not write football rules they follow the NFHS (National Federation of High School) rules. To make the A-11 illegal all that would have to change is the numbering exception on scrimmage kick formation ( A player in position to recieve a snap 7 yards or more behind center with no player in postion to recive a hand to hand snap) to read only one player may use the numbering exception. Currently in the scrimmage kick formation teams do not need 5 players numbered 50-79 on the line of scrimmage like in all other offensive formation. The rule is basically for a long snapper who is a wide reciever or a back so the team does not have to change a players jersey every time they punt. However the numbering exception has nomenclature such that a "loop hole" was created. With the addition of a word or two into the numbering exception, the A-11 would cease to be a legal formation and I would not be surprised to see it happen as this formation is also hard on officials to verify who is actually eligible. Eligibility rules are different in scrimmage kick formations as well.

Good luck getting any team in the area that has enough kids smart enough to run this offense. Your best bet would be McCort because academics is first at that institution??? hahaha

Skippy,
You are right that the PIAA does not write their own rules, but they can make amendments to the NFHS rules, which they do very often. That is what I am saying that they will make an amenmdment even if the NFHS does not close their loophole.

Re: A-11
They do NOT follow NFHS totally. They make exemptions and send out memos to officials that are different rules than what the Federation makes. Trust me I know of some of these exceptions.
