Re: Big 10 deserves respect
Are you basing that on the bowl games alone? While Fl. St. did beat WVU in Bowden's last game (perhaps a little extra movitation?) they also lost to USF (a team with a losing record in the BE). FSU was 4-4 in the ACC and based on their season results, I don't see them being much different than 4-3 or 3-4.KirkHerbstreit wrote:I think it's pretty obvious that Florida St., UNC, and NC state would have better records in the Big east than the ACC. I'm still waiting for you to make a solid argument.
Yes, NC St. upset Pitt, but it was also at NC St. The Wolfpack had only 4 road games this year and lost them all. They were an erratic team that beat Pitt and UNC and lost to Duke. I really don't think they would have been consistent enough to be better in the BE. Maybe 2-5 or 3-4 at best.
Pitt may have squeaked by UNC on the scoreboard, but they really controlled the play on the field. When you drop and TD pass and fumble on the 1, you basically give away 14 points. UNC also just barely beat UCONN (another BE team with a losing conference record). Do you really think they would have been better than 4-3 in the Big East?

Re: Big 10 deserves respect
Kirk, what was said about the Big East in the second post under this topic???? All I said was the Big Ten had "6 teams out of 11 with losing records". What's THAT have to do with the Big East????? Seems like a logical statement.

Yep its a logical statement. So what you are really saying is that you Pitt folk will do the same? Not that you ever talked about the Big Ten and/or Penn State in any other thread nah this never happened.

I guess you're still having some trouble with Reading Comprehension Moldy. I said a "big east fan" commented on the big ten, so the big east was brought into it.

Re: Big 10 deserves respect
So everytime a Big East fan speaks, it's about the Big East and nothing else? So if I talk about the Pirates, it's about the Big East? Honestly Kirk, you know better than that. At least I didn't change the subject. Nice try though.

Re: Big 10 deserves respect
I give the Big Ten respect for their performance in the bowl games. I was rooting for most of their teams, because I'm sick of hearing how great the SEC, Big 12, and PAC 10 are.
To get more respect, they need to win some good non-conference games. They're best win was Iowa over Arizona at home, and a couple of wins over ND.
They also need some higher profile stars. I know that's easier said than done, because the national media seems to be in love with the South and West, but that's when you get respect.
