WPIAL - I would think that if Sponsky was contacted by Altoona it was probably by a board member or someone on the QT who is angry about something, probably someone with a kid in the program! I wouldn't think it would be a member of the athletic department or administration. I also heard the rumor but was told it was the AD who contacted him and asked if he would consider if things did not work out for the current Altoona coach. Again not sure I buy into that.

I also agree that it would be an eye opener for Coach Sponsky in a public school. It is much more difficult when you can only pick the apples from your own trees!! Coach Bob Gongloff, a former BC coach, found that out at Penn Cambria as did Tim Koshute (McCort) at Richland.

If Sponsky is being considered for any coaching position in a public school, how could he make the switch??? I believe he is not a certified teacher. Surely an unstable coaching offer would be a risky career move..

It's all a bunch of hear say! I wonder why he never took up on these offers? From what I understand enrollment is up in the freshmen class as well as other grades. As long as the doors are open at BC then Sponsky will stay put.

Muddlehuddle he would be supervisor of attendance thats the title he would've had last time. When you have a tree of 900 and some kids its different then PC's 250 or whatever they have.

Guiness BC is heading in the right direction again they have a new principal who is the assistant coach of football and its getting back to a how do I say it a faith based academic & athletic school instead of a faith based academic & exchange student school.

I'd love to see Carroll stay together, but they are getting smaller and smaller. They are the 2nd smallest school is District 6.

They obviously aren't worried about Sponsky's accredations if he is being considered for the job. Teaching isn't a requirment to be a team's coach. Roman isn't a teacher at Westmont.....

And Siewinder, Koshute is a good coach, but with any school...if yuo don't have talent you aren't going to win. I mean think about it, has Richland ever really been better then BM at basketball? It doesn't matter at some places, Roy Williams could coach Richland, they just don't have the players.

Crimson - if you don't have the players and cannot get the players then it is tough!

If the offer is right I believe Sponsky would definately leave BC. Cannot be making a whole lot of cash coaching at Carroll.

As for Koshute, the kids at Richland did not want to play for him. Players did not go out for the team and quit the team last year that could have helped. Something was wrong. We will see how Burke does with the Rams.

How about the trees Carroll, Guilfoyle and McCort can pick from. Doesn't matter whose yard the tree is in they can still take the fruit!! Altoona is a bigger school by far but they are kids in the Altoona District.

I heard that BC has a new principal in Coach Luko, an assistant football coach at BC. They say it is going to start again, luring in athletic, Protestants who have average at best grades to get the opportunity to play on the next level.
