Re: UPJ Tournament
It's funny that the only player that anyone has ever known to come out of Shaler actually started in the district that WpialTitan puts down. Then he says he would have never made the NBA if he stayed at Altoona?
I guarantee if you ask people around the state which school they have ever heard of between Altoona and Shaler its no contest. Shaler + West Shamokin = Bottom of the barrel in the WPIAL.
Shaler is to D7 as Ferndale is to D6.

Fortson would've ended up at a place like Glen Mills if he hadn't have gone to Shaler. Sporty, Jtown-sunfish...mudpuddle...kapish?

I remember as a yungin (sorry for the westlvania language) watching him and Taneyhill play on tv in states. I believe he was a freshman. Can someone refresh my memory on the year. Was it 91' - 92'??

The reason why WPIALtitan comes here and rants raves about absolutely nothing is because if we were to have a real conversation about the school he supports and the schools from this area he would have nothing to say.
He uses his WPIAL argument all the time against this area but the problem is that the school he supports would not be missed if it were not in the WPIAL. Thats a fact. In fact the only AAAA school in this district, State College, would handle Shaler on a regular basis in any sport.
West Shamokin is in the WPIAL. Burrgettstown, Avella, Derry, etc are all WPIAL members as well. But they, like Shaler have nothing to represent on their own other than talk about the WPIAL. You will not see them talking about their own schools to much because they have nothing to talk about.
So wpialtitan will continue to come on here and say what he says but its ok. He knows as well as anyone on here that Shaler does not have the history/success/tradition of Johnstown/Bishop Mccort/Forest HIlls/Altoona/State College/ and many more D6 schools. That is a fact that he is unable to argue.

Johnstown had a really good first game. I pick them to win the UPJ Tournament, and the LHAC.

It's going to be a good game today with Johnstown and north star. Johnstown is going to have a tough time with Strasiser, he is big, fast, and has the ability to score from anywhere. Look for Haselrig or Calvin Anderson to be your guy they match him up with.
