I will be curious to see if Everett does build a large gym with the financial woes they are facing. Not sure they can pull it off.

Bedford may be too small for the finals of the district tournament, but I don't think greed is the issue here as one contributor suggested with the Thomas Tournament. Bedford turns down many teams from across the state trying to provide an opportunity for local wrestlers to meet up with teams they will see at regionals and states. Most, if not all weight classes have less than a full bracket. Thomas with 24 teams and Districts with 11 or 12 do not compare. And Bedford does have the closed circuit viewing in their auditorium.

That said, I would prefer to use UPJ or the War Memorial just to give no one an home court advantage.

from what I understand the UPJ sportscenter has a scheduling conflict with the D5 date. i also hear the War Mem is out of D5 budget. I dunno, how big is Rockwood? I know the gym is large but is there enough seating? I havent been there in years.

Bedford would be an awful idea...The Thomas Tourney gets so many people you cant even move your legs..... i mean i give Bedford credit they do a great job running the Thomas tourney and regionals.. Why dont they move it the weekend after D6 or before in Altoona field house???

I agree that Districts needs moved from Windber. Windber is too small especially now with Somerset in D-5. The reason that it is held at Windber is because it is centrally located. I also think that Districts has to be held at a D-5 school and that is the reason why they don't have it at UPJ or the War Memorial.

Windber may be in the middle but its mainly because the D5 chairman is from Windber...Kimmle needs to step up and make a change.

As this tournament approaches I am cringing at the fact that we are squeezing a large fan base to the already over crowded gymnasium. I bet somerset has a fairly large following, they are only 30 minutes away, big school, successful...

WHERE ARE THEY PUTTING THEM??????

I can't even think how they are going to host the finals on saturday. I heard they may only give out X amount of tickets, how would you like to be a parent of a wrestler and you dont get a ticket in time...upset.

Somerset had like 20 fans at D5 duals...I wouldn't consider that a big fan base.

per Eric Knopsnyder/Trib Dem/D5 Wrestling chairman Joe Kimmel, the D5 meet will be held @ UPJ next year, if the 2 parties can agree on terms. Also Windber's seating capacity is 1,525.
