The only two district 5 a teams that will give s.f. a game is shanksville and shade. I saw earlier in the year s.f. beat shanksville by like 5. I agree s.f. will walk into the championship game. In semis, it will be berlin/rockwood against them and I see no problem or challenge from those two schools to s.f., but shade/shanksville will be a good match for the 3rd time. Shade has a better 5 than shanksville, but the vikings have a bench and shade doesn't. Fyock was hurt the first game and walker had something bothering him in the 2nd game. Shade did beat c.v who has height and talent by more than 10 points a couple games ago and is healthy. C.v. beat c.t the first game this year, but c.t.beat c.v. the 2nd game they played. I hate to go against my sleeper shanksville team, but I say a totally healthy shade team beats them in the 2nd round semis on a nuetral court if coach fyock plays a triangle in two on duppstadt and slade. I would play medva on jake duppstadt and wade walker on slade the whole game and force the other vikings to shoot to beat shade. Last game they played, fyock played a zone which is a no-no against shanksville. He let dupstadt hit like 5 threes and slade ate them up underneath. He needs to play shanksville like he played salisbury and put two guys on their only two scorers just like they did to miller and beiler from salisbury. I feel coaching lost the 45-44 game down at shanksville the 2nd game shade played them. He should have had medva all over jake, and walker all over slade and no more 3's and no rebounds and points for slade. You make there other players beat you. make them shoot the ball, not there two scorers!

If and when they match up in the semi finals it will be dandy and a must see for any local hoops fan. I am looking forward to it for sure. Maybe even more then I am the District final.

Also with the season coming to an end I'm trying to think of my Somerset County MVP, 1st and 2nd teams. What do you guys think?

Well you can't play a zone and let duppstadt hit 5 threes and slade uncovered underneath when they do 85% of the scoring for the vikings. Shade played like a triangle on miller and beiler with medva and walker with help from the others to stop them and beat them bad. It works on teams with two scorers because they have a guy hounding them the whole game with help from the other three. Jake wouldn't have hit his 5 threes in that game if medva was on him because medva is quick and strong and can shut down anyone. They scored only like 45 points as a team and jake and carter had probably 38 of them!

Not going to happen. They will meet in the Semis because of being ranked 2 & 3 in the seeding. Not sure about the other semi it will be SF v Hyndman/Berlin. The Hyndman Berlin 1st round matchup could be a toss up depending on who has home court. I will still give the edge to Berlin with SF winning in the Semis.

as of feb 13th....

1 southern fulton
8 salisbury

3 shade
6 rockwood

4 hyndman
5 berlin

2 shanksville
7 forbes road

so a shade and shanksville title match is possible from the brackets on the district 5 website. shade is gonna have their hands full with southern fulton! shanksville should walk into the title game

S.f. plays the winner of the lesser teams of 4 and 5. Shade and shanksville win and play each other. It has always been that way to have the #1 seed play the winner of the lesser record unless they changed it. Now if forbes road beats shank. then s.f. would play them because the are a #7 seed and shade wins it is a #3 seed. Maybe they changed it??? I know the top team got the easiest team in round two by lowest rank. Also teams 1,2,3,4 have a first round home game and the 2nd round is on a nuetral court, as is the championship and it is always at school in the middle of the two playing.

The winner of #1 vs #8 gets the winner of #4 vs #5 regardless of who wins the other games. The winner of #2 vs #7 gets the winner of #3 vs #6. It's always been that way and hasn't been changed. The championship is not at a school in the middle. It is at UPJ. Has been that way for at least 10 years.
