I thought about Rollins too. Mainly just because the pirates have people that can atleast be servicable at the other positions. Barmes in my opinion is not, and he seems to be the only option.
ROllins I think has a contract that takes him up through the age of 36. He is 33 now and playing well. I don't think the Pirates have anyone in the system that will be ready to be an above average SS in the next 3 years, but I don't know what it would cost to get Rollins. I don't think you want to overpay for a 33 year old SS on a team that isn't ready to compete for a world title yet. But if the price is right I'd love to grab him for a few years.

One of the top 5 SS in the MLB making 11 million a year. That's 1/6th of Pittsburghs payroll. Better pick another SS to droll over.

Yep, never hurts to dream but when you dream about the pirates you can only dream about 8 to 10 year old models with high mileage. LOL

How about a guy like Carlos Lee? Aren't the Astros looking to rebuild? Would they be willing to give him up cheap? I know his salary would be high, but would it hurt too much if we just rent him for a year?

I'm against the one year renta player deal. Pirates are building something nice. I say only trade for a guy that will help for a few years.
Re: Kevin Youkilis?? sp
The Pirates signed , the other day, to a minor league contract, their future stud SS, Kent State's Jimmy Rider.
It ain't over until it's over.

Lee vetoed a trade with the Dodgers. Thome was dealt by the Phillies to the Orioles. Things are beginning to happen. Do you think we still need a bat if they keep hitting the way they are hitting in June?
