lol @ the assumption of jones, mcgloin or mcgregor starting ahead of even tino. Typical brainwashed nitter. The last thing you nits should be worrying about is football. None of those 3 psu qbs are pitt material, just like anyone who chooses pitt over psu isnt penn state material. Think shady mccoy. If he was so poor academcally, I'm sure suepa wouldve tutored him. What a litany of lies coming from psu. Btw, I saw ths weekend that a psu commit chose psu over robt morris. Nice.

The kid was also all-state in a state that produces a lot of talent.
You cant honestly think that Paul Jones isn't better than those Pitt QBs, Titan.

Re: Second Mile, NCAA Violations?
Jones may have better physical talent than all 3 of those guys, but in no way has he proved to be better than any of them. Furthermore, he needs to get SuePa to tutor him so he can pass his classes at that pseudo-Ivy known as PSU. He's not Pitt material! But as I have said, PSU should NOT be worrying about football, but about the incredible quandary that they are in, deemphasing football, eliminating the cult that surrounds football, and creating a trusting reputation with its students, staff, etc.

Re: Second Mile, NCAA Violations?
Shane McGregor was like 4th best QB in the LHAC his senior season(DeFrances,Pecora, and Kaufman were 1-3). And no not an exaggeration, he really was. He would not start over Tino Sunseri. He would be Pitt's 5th QB.
Matt McGloin is really bad, and actually had at least 10 Penn Staters tell me they would rather have Sunseri than McGloin. I wanted to have them checked for diseases lol.
Paul Jones couldn't beat out Bolden or McGloin isn't very telling of how good the kid is. I could see Chryst take a chance on him. It does not go against his scholarships and would be a nice backup to Sunseri. He would allow Voytik to keep his redshirt. If Pitt wanted him, it would be a backup role. There is no risk in taking him either.
I'm glad Pitt doesn't end up with the kid.
2012. We have to deal with Sunseri. If need be we threw Myers in there, or burn Voytik's redshirt.
2013. We have Voytik as a redshirt frosh running the show. Savage as a senior backup for insurance. Tra'von Chapman redshirting. Myers or Anderson as the emergency choice.
Pitt also has Chandler Kincade "verbally" committed still. he is the best QB from PA in the class of 2014.
I think it will be cool seeing Voytik's career as opposed to Hackenberg, if they both start as freshmen next season. Hackenberg has the pro qualities and looks like a future first round prospect. Voytik looks like a tough, smart college player. Either way both teams have two very good QB's to look forward to.

Re: Second Mile, NCAA Violations?
Honestly, Pitt fans are frustrated. In a year when Penn State football was pretty much obliterated, they are still having trouble getting a good recruiting class and outrecruiting Penn State for that matter. Heck, they can't even get kids with 3+ years of eligibility left to come play for their home town team. I imagine some of these kids log on to pantherliar to see what fans are saying about them, and all they see is a bunch of fans so obsessed with what is going on at Penn State that it is frightening.
I'd be willing to bet there are 30 new threads created each day about Penn State on Pantherlair. 2 about Pitt football.

Pretty much the same thing for PSU when it comes to basketball.

Crimson,
Are you acting like a hackenburg/jones qb battle is a negative thing?
You do realize they both have been ranked as the #1 qb prospect in the country by recruiting ranking services.
By the way...why haven't we been talking about the Pitt death sentence that began in 1978.

Nobody wants to play for Pitt?
Maybe you should look at some NFL Rosters. Pitt has put more skilled players in the NFL in the last 5 years then PSU has in 15 years.
By the way PSU hasn't won a game in 14 years!!!

Re: Second Mile, NCAA Violations?
No, but it could be a negative thing for Jones if he loses. Not ideal for a senior to lose to a Freshmen in a QB battle.
And you act like I don't understand their HS rankings. I never said anything negative towards Hackenberg. Actually I speak pretty well of him if you have noticed. I think the kid is a legit Pro prospect. Jones on the other hand COULD be a bust. Obviously academics has been a problem for him. And he can't beat out Matt McGloin. So what does it really matter if Paul Jones was a top rated QB? Anthony Morelli and Pat Bostick are two other top rated QB's from the state that were complete disappointments. Jones could be right with them.
IF Paul Jones ended up at Pitt. I said this... He would not start. He would be a good backup option for Sunseri in 2012. He also allows Voytik to keep his redshirt. 2013 he would be in a three way battle with Tom Savage and Chad Voytik.
Either way he does not like to be a starter at Pitt or Penn State this year, and would be in a race for both jobs next year.
Again TAE says Tom Savage sucks essentially. He very well may. BUT he has nothing to base that Jones is any better. The kid can't beat out mediocre QB's at PSU. That is my point.

Poor TAE. He is definitely not his usual self now that camelot (aka Jonestown) has been exposed as a sewer teeming with rats and a trash can full of maggots.
