So every good deed a citizen of Pittsburgh does throughout the year is vacated if they attend the bar scene on Saint Patrick's Day?

Your logic makes no sense.

Look. kirk is using THON to show that PSU students, fans and alumni are not all about football. He is using the benevolence of charity to show that the PSU mindset isn't all about the culture of football. That the life of a Penn Stater doesn't revolve around football. But he doesn't mention that many of these same people who participate in THON whole-heartedly participate in State Patty's Day. It's like a Catholic who is pro-choice where abortion is concerned. It's like a Boy Scout repeating REVERANT in the scout law, but is gay. It just doesn't match. If you are prepared to praise Penn Staters for THON, you should equally be prepared to criticize Penn Staters for going wild on State Patty's day. And many of the Penn Staters do both.

Criticize kids for drinking? There is no college anywhere where kids don't get wild sometimes.

Moldy I take it you have never been to Pittsburgh on St. Patty's day. I go every year. Do me a favor.....borrow your mom's car this year and head down. Sit on the bridge heading over to the south side and watch the amount of drunk college kids walking all over town. My point isn't to call out Pitt, but to tell you this happens at every college in America. You're a fool if you think otherwise.

Also, when you are done sitting on the bridge, please jump off and don't swim.

....Who's talking about St. Patrick's Day? Everybody celebrates St. Patrick's Day, even in Johnstown. But I'm talking about STATE Patty's Day, coming up this weekend in State College. The Morning Call says it all:
...."Fed up with the drunken debauchery of a made-up holiday, a town-and-gown partnership in State College has agreed to pay $170,000 to stop 34 businesses from serving alcohol on Saturday. There will be a $5,000 payment to each bar that agrees NOT to serve alcohol to CURB dangerous drinking on State Patty's Day this weekend. Created by Penn State students in 2007, for many, it's a chance to CATCH UP on PARTYING after THON".
....Soooooo since Penn State students missed out on their drinking habits LAST WEEKEND because of their work for pediatric cancer, they had to MAKE-UP a reason to go drinking the very next weekend. Isn't it amazing that drinking has been so bad over the last few years, that bars have to be PAID NOT to serve booze this weekend. That's like Tombstone, where you had to leave your guns with the sheriff when you entered town. Isn't it sad, that private taverns and restaurants, have to be paid NOT to serve alcohol one weekend a year? It's like Mardi Gras, where you can do one last blast of anything you want, before you have to be pious for the next 40 days. Let's help raise money for cancer one weekend, then let all Hell break loose the next weekend. Maybe Pat Chambers can help donate money to the "Keep the Bars Closed" fund.

Wow Moldo, you really do not give up, I'll give you credit for that. State Patty's Day is just not PSU students. I went to SC for State Patty's Day 2 years ago. While sitting at the bar at the Rathskeller, I met people from Pitt, Villanova, UPJ, U. of MD, and several other universities. I read somewhere, can't remember where, that they estimate that about 25% of those in town that day are not PSU students. If I can find that article I'll post it. Keep digging Moldo, it makes for great entertainment. Your fascination with PSU is humorous and seems like it comsumes most of your life.

Yep El Moldo has shown me the light like and everything on the evils of Penn State with this masterfully written post. Makes me want to crawl back into my bubble silently hoping the world doesn't end.

By the way, why not get rid of all holidays? Oh the horror of made up holidays, lets ban THON while were at it!!! Evil I tell you Evil!

THON isn't a holiday. But State Patty's Day is like Kwansaa, a made up holiday. It's like Grandparent's Day. The only thing about State Patty's Day is, it's a day for DRINKING. And then, the PSU students can also celebrtate St. Patrick's Day, and DRINK there too. Isn't it a shame that there is sooooo much drinking in State College on State Patty's Day that organizations have to pay to keep the bars from serving alcohol on that day?
