I am I correct in assuming that Pugh threw about 120 pitches in a loss to Claysburg Friday, then pitched a complete game today, on just 2 days rest?

Yes and he felt great. He trains properly for the season he was pitching in games all winter a lot of people do not realize that. He was still throwing light bull pens during football season after practice to prepare for the winter season. He throws properly using his legs letting his arm come along for the ride. Kids who do not have proper mechanics are the ones who suffer from arm injuries.

As for the rest period, I'm sure like most leagues, that they do amount of innings by week. Monday starts a new week.

I mean there probably really isn't any reason to throw a kid on two days rest, but if he can do it, so be it.

Admittedly I'm a Ferndale homer, but this team could surprise people. 4-3 loss to Portage; good outing by Kinsey. A blown tag-up call cost us one run; however, we couldn't take advantage of 5 Portage errors, or having bases loaded twice with one out. Had 2nd and 3rd with two outs, when Dividock from Portage made a helluva catch at the left field line, coming from his position in left-center. Had 5-0 lead against Meyersdale; one bad inning of relief pitching, good outing by Berkebile, 2 2/3 scoreless relief by Hrabosky. One-hitter by Beneke yesterday. Ferndale has been playing relatively mistake-free ball, they have hit in the clutch. Could easily be 3-0. Yesterday's lineup had 1 senior (Eisenhuth), 2 juniors (Hrabosky & Sajatovich) 4 sophomores (Hockensmith, Kinsey, Berkebile, & Beneke) and 2 freshmen (McCombie and McCough), so good future here.

Two BIG tests coming up...North Star on Thursday, Conemaugh Valley on Friday.

Everett travels to NBC today...this looks like an early taste of what we'll see in 5-AA semi-finals later this season...

PIAA BASEBALL PITCHING RESTRICTION

A player may pitch in a maximum of nine (9) innings in one (1) calendar day, but not more than fourteen (14)
innings in any Calendar Week (Sunday through Saturday). Delivery of one (1) pitch constitutes having
pitched in any inning. If an inning is played in part on two (2) calendar days, delivery of one (1) pitch in that
inning in each of those calendar days constitutes having pitched in two (2) innings. If he pitches in three innings
or less in one (1) calendar day, no rest is required; however, no player may pitch more than three (3)
consecutive three-inning days. If he pitches three (3) consecutive three-inning days, he must have one (1)
calendar day of rest. If he pitches in four (4) or five (5) innings in one (1) calendar day, he must have two (2)
calendar days of rest. If he pitches in six (6) or more innings in one (1) calendar day, he must have three (3)
calendar days of rest.
If a baseball player pitches more innings than are permitted under the "restriction" the school is using an
ineligible player (pitcher) and shall forfeit the Contest. Violations of this "restriction" subject the school to
other penalties under Article XIII of the PIAA By-Laws. As is the case with all PIAA Rules and Regulations, it is
the responsibility of the Principal to make sure that the baseball coach and players comply with the PIAA baseball
pitching restriction (6-1-6).

No more than 9 in a day, or 14 in a week. However, the required days rest always apply. There is no reset on the rest because its a new week. The head coach should know these rules, so it depends on how many innings he pitched on Friday, whether it was legal or not. If it was wise or not is debatable. Injuries occur from overuse, and a lot of guys with good mechanics get hurt. How else can you explain why so many pros end up on the DL?

Tanner Claar (Hburg) broke his ankle in yesterday's game against Punxy. He was going after a home run and when he came back down his cleat got caught in the fence. He was life flighted to Altoona hosptial. He is having surgery today. What a horrible way to end your senior year.
