Re: Flyers
Do a little research before you make poor jokes. KC was nothing more than a bargaining chip. The pens weren't leaving Pittsburgh.

Re: Flyers
No lemieux no pens. Which I'm happy with. I respect Mario more than anyone else in the league. Cancer survivor. Owner and so charitable. Not many people outside the state know all the great that man has done. Especially for me, a Hodgkin's survivor myself

Re: Flyers
Mario owned the Pens when that all went in. Try again.

Re: Flyers
I'm not trying anything. Mario bailed them out in late 1990s from bankruptcy. He's been a great owner, an owner that was loyal to Pittsburgh. Even that loyal owner had to use in your words a bargaining chip to keep his team in town. Almost any other Nhl owner these days would of taken them. Just ask Atlanta, Winnipeg, and some of the others who were happy to move teams instantly
Re: Flyers
Lemeuix didn't buy the Penguins out of the goodness of his heart he bought them because they owed him more than the franchise was worth and they were going bankrupt. Read the book titled "Breakaway: The Inside Story of the Pittsburgh Penguins Rebirth" by Andrew Conte if you wanna get your facts straight. If anything, the penguins were closest to moving to Portland when Lemeuix was offering part of the franchise to Microsoft.
Re: Flyers
BTW, I never want to hear Flyers fans question the loyalty of Pens fans again. I now live outside of the area so I got the game on the NHL network last night with the Flyers feed. The entire game there were promotions like buy a club seat for $85 and get 2 tickets to Penn State vs Vermont, buy a box for a game and get season tickets to the Phantoms, and so on. Even during the deepest part of the bankruptcy, the Penguins averaged 20 sellouts a year. I'm sure the Flyers have their fair share of sellouts but they should, they are one of the largest markets in the country.

Re: Flyers
All I was saying is this. No Mario no pens. He's a great owner that kept them in Pittsburgh when 90% of other owners wouldn't of. I moved out of the state to Washington. I hear all the time about Oklahoma city and how they should of stayed the supersonics. Those two situations were extremely similar except one team stayed and one went.

Re: Flyers
I think it's time for a weekly Flyers update... Currently sitting at a stellar 3-8 which is good for 6 points. Or one point outta dead last in the entire NHL.
As for Konjo's man-crush Claude Giroux: 0-G 6-A (3 of which are on PP so after 11 games he has 3 even strength points!) 23 SOG (the best player in the NHL and future MVP can barely manage 2 sog per game, WOW!! He's also managed to play some amazing defense this year and has himself at a -7 +/- rating.
As if these stats aren't mind blowing take a look at this....
http://www.thepensblog.com/ and scroll down to the .gif of that masterpiece of a dive. Next time anyone from Philly calls Crosby a diver they need to be slapped. What a disgrace. If i remember correctly Konjo claims he likes the Flyers b/c of their toughness... how tough was that flop, big boy?

Re: Flyers
It's been a few games since we updated you on our video game MVP.
Giroux had one of his better games of the season last night. It wasn't enough to fend off a 2-1 OT loss to the Hurricanes. Flyers fall to 4-9-1
Video Game MVP Tracker:
GP: 14
G: 0
A: 7
PM: 8
+/-: -10
Few notes: 27 shots on the year. Nearly 2 per game average. 0% shooting percentage (obviously). 4 of his 7 assists are on the Power Play. So even strength on the year Giroux has 3 assists and a -10.
Serious question, will Giroux be a healthy scratch at some point this year? It happened to Callahan during the playoffs last year (for the Rangers).

Re: Flyers
In typical Konjo fashion I'm sure he won't acknowledge or reply to this. He is so adamant about harping on the Pens attendance/following issues but he has been awfully quick to avoid NHL threads these past two seasons. He is one of those "real" fans though....
I guess I can't blame him though.... if I touted Giroux as the best player in the game and had to watch that travesty of a team every week I'd be sitting in a corner somewhere talking to myself.
We haven't even mentioned that Ray Emery debacle from last week... the Flyers are quickly becoming the laughingstock of the NHL, again.
