To clarify my post. Not every person that I've run into from there, (whether in person or on this site) is arrogant or pompus. But the overall majority; yes, most people I've met from there are very arrogant. I was at the game last Friday, and over heard some guy in line at the consession stand (which by the way, Berlin's may top just about every school's around) say, "I don't know why these boys even practice. It doesn't matter who we play we will win. No one stands a chance to beat us. Our only tough game will be when we play Clairton. Heck we will beat Portage by 30 tonight."peytonsaturday wrote:Arrogance and Berlin. Those two words are one in the same.Sarge98 wrote:You have to play districts first. what arrogance.
Granted, they are very successful as of late. But as in any small single A program, eventually that success will be on a downhill slope, and when it is, I doubt many coaches will forget the 60 points the "mountain men" put up on them. I know I wouldn't.

Berlin is fast to pull their starters. I believe they do a good job of it. I do agree that there is arrogance though, but this is from a small selection of fans. This shouldn't be a representation of Berlin as a whole, but they are the group that usually speaks the loudest. Every school has them. I think it's definitely hard for some parents to step back and look at the bigger picture.
From what I've seen from the team this year, the boys are a class act in all aspects. They do a better job than most of the fans.

You should've told that guy to shut up, lol. Nobody likes bad representation of their community.

Hank, I totally agree that every town has their share of people who give the town / school a bad name. However it seems that the vast majority of Berlin fans / parents / supporters seem very arrogant and "better than".12HankQB wrote:You should've told that guy to shut up, lol. I wasn't able to attend the game Friday, so I can't really say much. It's just a shame. Parents need to let the players do the talking on the field.

I'm fairly certain this was a parent as the woman (assuming wife) he was standing in line with had a jersey of their (or at least her) son I'm assuming. I won't name the number, as that would perhaps indicate the kid is the same way. But I can honestly say, 9 out of every 10 fans I came in contact with over the years from Berlin are very arrogant, and cocky.12HankQB wrote:I wasn't able to attend the game Friday, so I can't really say much. But again, to be fair; usually the cocky, arrogant, pain in the arse fans are the ones who do the most talking. The humble, "good" fans are usually quiet and don't say much. So I'm sure this doesn't enbody the entire Berlin fan base. Some things I will give kudos to:peytonsaturday wrote:I'm fairly certain this was a parent as the woman (assuming wife) he was standing in line with had a jersey of their (or at least her) son I'm assuming. 1. The PA announcer. Whoever he is he does a great job. Very good "radio voice" also. Also very respectful to Portage.
2. Consession stand. Wow! Great job. I wish I didn't stop in Somerset's McDonald's before I went.
3. Coaching staff. I stood on each sideline for a half. It seemed as if the Berlin staff called every play out correctly to their defense. They seem very well coached.

I'm going to stick with number 2, which is the Italian Sausage loaded with peppers...enough said.
I also really like that Berlin has made use of the ramp for the player stadium entrance. Coming down the gravel hill was nice, but I like the front door method better.

peytonsaturday you must just be a sour mustang. Gary is infamous for pounding the weak or anyone he can. Do you think North Star will remember the 75 your Mustangs put on them???? Or the 66 you put on Ferndale??? How about the 61 you put on Windber and Blacklick??? A MUCH better Berlin team only went over 60 twice this year. What does that say???? The last thing any Mustang fan should EVER do is talk about getting the score run up on them.......peytonsaturday wrote:To clarify my post.
