Did BG have a forfeit? I thought they played 10? PM played 9 regular season. and 1 playoff.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!!!

Re: Portage at Bishop Guilfoyle - D6A Semifinal
Coach Gouse and the rest of the coaching staff had one on one private meetings with every player on the roster last week and let each individual let it all hang out. Now do I think this fixed all the problems.....absolutely not, however It at least put everyone on the same page on what was going on with this team and staff. Like I said leading into the Bellwood game, It was going to come down to if the players were motivated to come together for each other and win for the themselves. Apparently something lit a fire under them because thats the best I've seen them play all year without question.Crimson's Ghost wrote:Portage didn't fare well against Berlin two times this season, and BG is of the same caliber if not better. Also, the talk of trouble within the Portage team last week raises an eyebrow even though they got through last week. To me, it just doesn't add up for an upset. The newspaper quotes might be more exciting than the game.
Now as for this week against Bishop Guilfoyle.... I mean lets be honest, Portage played their asses off last year and still lost by 14 to the eventual state champs. This year BG is bigger and maybe even better and this Mustang team doesn't have the same makeup of last years squad. If Portage keeps it within 20 i'll be happy and surprised, I just hope they go down fighting together like last years team that's all.

42-8 BG, You can't compare last year and this year. Kephart (175yds) had so much to do with Portage keeping it close. Once BG made adjustments at halftime with their D ends coming so far up field Portage couldn't do anything. This year Portage won't have over 100 yds. They will run some criss crosses for some yards. BG is to fast for their jet sweeps. D ends are to big for Portage backs to block on sweeps. I just don't think Portage and their Wing T will be able to compete with BGs size and speed.

I was thinking the 8 will have to come in mop up duty if Portage scores.
