I think Bellwood and McCort can have some success in AA. Vincentian is AA. I think Carroll and JV can both make a deep run in class A. I believe the new classifications help the single A schools the most. When I look at who is left in that class Carroll and JV should be able to make a deep run. All three of D6 single A teams are on the western side of the state playoff bracket so nobody will be going east. I can see all three of the D6 teams in this classification doing very well.

As a previous thread stated. We won't really know about BG or BC until the season starts and we find out who is actually there. If girls are actually leaving BC then I would give JV the edge over them. I also agree that the state bracket sets up very nicely for the single a teams.Bballfan123 wrote:I agree ChrisKentRam. What about your Rams though? If I recall you are an LV fan. Maybe a football hangover? lol.
Who is there to worry about in the state class AA with the new realignment that will prevent our area teams from making noise? I just see that class as competitive as area girls basketball has been in recent years adn don't think it's bad basketball. Granted The U of BG isn't dominating the field anymore but it's solid basketball and was hoping to see someone else make a run at a state title.
Can BC make any news in class A state playoffs this year?

As far as BC goes they did lose a player back to Penn Cambria but they gained a couple new players also. They will be very strong.

Is what they gained better than the player they lost? I believe the one they lost did start for them last year. Where are the new players from?districtsixhoops wrote:As far as BC goes they did lose a player back to Penn Cambria but they gained a couple new players also. They will be very strong.

Not sure where they are from. Coach Gongloff is unique is some ways so you have to be able to accept his style.

Don't overlook the Lady Mustangs. BC & JV are definitely the favorites in Single A but Portage will contend. They lost a high scoring group of seniors but return a hungry group of underclassmen who can play. Add some talented frosh to what will be Portage's biggest roster maybe ever. The Mustangs have had a great summer & will only continue to improve because of a great program with committed kids & coaches who put in the time.
With the new six class format, this is going to be an exciting time for PA high school basketball, both boys & girls alike.

I highly disagree Portage Alum. My apologies. While I see your point in the big team Portage has this year, I don't see the competitiveness that lines up with your confidence. They have 3 girls that I see as players. One a freshman, one a small (but smart) sophomore guard and then their big post player. I don't see Portage as teh team tehy've been in years past and if it wasn't for the weak West Pac wouldn't see them making much noise this year. They'll survive but I dont see them as a true threat in the district.

I definitely agree with this assessment. Portage does have a very good program, and their kids and coaches work extremely hard. They will have a nice year in the west pac, and single A is also weak, so they could maybe get the 3rd spot in states. However, if they played in the LHAC they wouldn't finish .500 in the conference, and would prob barely be .500 in the Heritage. They are an average team, nothing special.Bballfan123 wrote:I highly disagree Portage Alum. My apologies. And who does the heritage besides blairsville? And they are double AA anyways so I'm kinda confused how they would barley be .500 in that conference but you have them 3rd in single A. Isn't all the other teams in the heritage class A?

This is based on the new classifications there chief. If you read the entire thread there is a very nice preview at the beginning of this thread that might help you understand.GoldenRamsFAN wrote:And who does the heritage besides blairsville?
