Re: Penn state vs indiana
I watch sports and i know a weak team when i see one. Penn State will probably be ranked 8th or higher but really have nothing to support it.
They got run over by michigan, had no defense vs pitt and needed a blocked fg returned for a TD to beat an overrated OSU team.
I think CFB is down this year in top level talent. It really looks like Bama (tier 1) everyone else (tier 4)

Pitt also scored 43 points against Clemson today, so maybe Pitt just has a good offense? And not sure how Ohio State is overrated... On the road in conference play, any win is a good one. When you throw in the absurd amount of injuries PSU has had this year, it's remarkable that they are where they are right now.

Its just not a loss to PSU. They also almost lost to a bad northwestern team.
Re: Penn state vs indiana
At the end of the day, the experts all disagree with you. Please tell me what other team(s) deserve to be higher than Penn State...
-Oklahoma lost at home to Ohio State and lost to a multi loss AAC team in Houston
-Oklahoma State beat 4-6 Texas Tech by 1 point at home. Also have a loss to Central Michigan at home.
-Colorado has only 2 losses but they don't have near the win that Penn State has in beating Ohio State. Their best win is a 10-5 contest over 6-3 Stanford.
-Virginia Tech lost Georgia Tech
-Does WVU jump 6 spots over Penn State for their 4 point win at 5-5 Texas, which probably was their "best win" of the year?
-Does Utah jump 7 spots over Penn State? They've lost to Cal and Washington. They did beat USC. I would say they probably have the best argument for being underrated.

I mean, beating a team that was ranked #2 at the time and has won their past two games by 60+ points is a pretty big resume builder.konjo78 wrote:I watch sports and i know a weak team when i see one. Penn State will probably be ranked 8th or higher but really have nothing to support it.

While I love college football, in general, there is one oddity that happens every year. Whether it was the old system, just voting for a National Champ, or the current "playoff" system, voting for the 4 teams to be in the playoffs,....there still remains the coddling of/rationalization for a select group of teams, so that they make the playoffs. 1 team, 4 teams,...still too much subjective, self-serving predispositions applied.
For some people, (not me) the fact that PSU beat Ohio State, is irrelevant. Doesn't fit into the picture they want to see.

Re: Penn state vs indiana
Penn state plays a very easy schedule other then osu, Michigan, Pitt. So u win 1-3 against above average teams and ur a top ten maybe college playoff worthy team I don't believe it. PSU has gotten better but u cant say that if they are playing most of the teams close to them in ranking you would see them winning

How do you get an 1-3 record when you listed only 3 good teams? How do you not include Iowa as a decent team after they just beat the number 3 team in the country? As I said in another post. The BIG 10 champion will be in the national semi-finals, even if is a 2-loss PSU or Wisconsin. Guaranteed.

Re: Penn state vs indiana
He meant to say 1 out of 3. Even if penn state wins out and wins big 10, with ohio state help, their resume would be much weaker than Mich, clemson, wash, louisville. Assuming UM losing to OSU and clem, wash, louis win out
