Re: Heritage/West Pac Sponsorship
Well, maybe I'm way of base. Homer is probably going to be playing Winber in Week 9 (10th game) as part of the Heritage/westpac cross over. The game this year will be at Homer Center.
All I'm suggesting and maybe I'm way off base. Is to play that game at 4pm as part of championship Saturday and make it a bowl game with trophy. I find it hard to believe that players and coaches would put more stock into playing a home game against Winber that means nothing but a W and point standings in this district play-offs. than they would playing Winber in a bowl game as part of championship Saturday in front of a larger crowd than they would get at home in a championship atmosphere.
I would think a 17 year old football player would prefer the latter. Again, maybe I'm dead wrong.

Yeah I think the neutral site thing as a prelude to the Appalachian Bowl would make for a better atmosphere for the teams and players.
But I also think, most teams are still going to value the playoffs more. The teams that will treat week 10 like big games are going to be the teams battling for playoff spots or position.
If you are 8-1 or 9-0 and your playoff seed is isn't going to change, coaches are likely going to value the playoffs more.

So whoever finishes in second place in each league gets to play in the firstloser.com bowl game?
Re: Heritage/West Pac Sponsorship
Is there really a need to complicate things? #1 plays #1, #2 plays #2, etc. Where did you get the magic number of 110? Homer Center will likely play Berlin who is AA. Big deal. They are only AA because we now have six classes to allow two more teams to win a trophy each year. Windber and Ferndale play this weekend to likely decide who will play the #3 Heritage team. These games can certainly be played at Point Stadium. Personally, I see no reason to get excited about playing a football game at a baseball stadium but that's just me.

Who runs the concession stands at Point Stadium for postseason football games?

The Point Stadium isn't a very ideal football venue, especially for the coaches and workers in the press box that is tucked away at the 10 yard line.

Capri Pizza did the AAABA. Do they do Bishop McCort football games as well?Crimson's Ghost wrote:The city runs the concession stand for all events at the Point Stadium.

I never go under the tunnel but I believe they do if I recall from years past.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, even one expressed with such bravado.ChrisKentRam wrote:So whoever finishes in second place in each league gets to play in the firstloser.com bowl game?
This is no shot at Ligonier. You won't find a classier, more humble group of fans, coaches, and players (even if you are one of the three). However, many of those same people will tell you they are in a very advantageous situation. Ligonier has 195 boys in grades 9-11 according to last years numbers. Meaning they have around 260 boys in 9-12 around 65 boys per grade. Homer has about 36 boys per grade and around 135 boys in the school. (about half of Ligonier)
You figure about 20% of boys play high school football. On average Ligonier has about 13 boys per grade playing football, they have a roster in the low 50's so that estimate is pretty spot on. Homer on the other should average about 7 players per grade. For a roster of about 28. Their roster is right around 40 so you can deduce the staff their is doing a great job of getting kids out. Their percentage of participation is about 30%.
My point in all of this schools with enrollments under 110 don't have much of a chance of winning anything. What Homer has done these past two years is very impressive. I would argue even more impressive than what Ligonier has done. So if you want to call a bowl game with Homer and Winber a "Loser" bowl be my guest.
