i think the way atheletes can get away with drug/steroid use here is rediculous. just recently over in england, one of the top players in the country missed an unannounced drug test, he didnt fail the test...he didnt take it because he didnt know about it and was out of town that day. the FA (englands governing body for soccer) banned him from all competition for a minimum of 8 months and after a hearing, the sentence could be lengthened to 2 years. but yet we have guys that get busted 2 or 3 for illegal drug use and they can still suit up, its just rediculous

STRAIGHT
I don't agree with steroid use, but I also don't agree with ex teamates outing players. Van Slyke was a great player but is no more. NO reason for him to be bashing bonds.

you missed the point. WHen you are on a team with someone, there should be a level of trust there that what happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room. Bonds should be dealt with severely if he has taken roids as the others should also.

Will Bonds be banned from baseball if he did use roids? This is a much bigger scandal than Pete Rose's gambling. The steroid(supplement) issue has been purposely ignored by the owners/players union in order to try to make baseball more money. The integrity(if they had any) of the game is in the toilet!
I say way go to Slyke, hey Bonds knew he was breaking the rules (just like Rose).
I guess Freddy that if Bonds raped a girl or was killed somebody that Slyke shouldn't say anything.
I think more straight(none roid using) players are going to come out and tell all about the abusers.

It's quite possible Bonds never broke the rules. I could be wrong, but I think steroids only became illegal in baseball last year (when Bonds HR's were down quite a bit). I certainly believe he was on them the year he hit 73 and probably before that as well.
Even if baseball cleans up their act, the damage has been done. Nobody will ever approach 73 HR's in a season off steroids in this era. Many records in track and field (especially on the womens side) are now unreachable because they were accomplished with steroids. Now that the majority of the athletes are clean, times are slower and the records are simply unapproachable. It will take something away from baseball just as it has done to track.
