coach i know ur argument is going to be nbc vs bedford, well bedford has 236 boys, nbc has 128, now of that extra 108 kids that bedford has to chose from, i would say possibly 4 at the most are talented. bedford has around 30-40 kids on the team, i would imagine that nbc has very similar numbers, so it makes no difference.
4 talented kids in 108??? LOL.

I'm pretty much done with my responses to this crap.

In all actuality..Bedford has played NB once in football and the Bisons are 0-1. That wouldn't happen often, but that is what did happen.

Quippa was an AAAA school in its past and they BUILT a tradition then that still rolls on. Now people who want their kids to succeed athletically can live in an area where a program has been established. Being AAAA and moving to A provides a much deeper program than a school that has been A forever.
Fiction...Aliquippa was never a AAAA school, the PIAA didn't have a AAAA class until 1980 when the merging of various school districts forced their hand. Back when our enrollment was up, the highest we were was AAA. Your argument may be true in places like Blackhawk, not in Aliquippa. Our current football team, including the 2003 team was home grown. These kids have been together since playing midget football as termites (7-8 yrs old?). This was true this past year, 5 years ago, and will be true 5 years from now.

You mean to say a class A team cannot build a tradition because their enrollment is small? That's rubbish...look at SCA (aside from the allegations of the vo-tech, class A is class A) & Rochester. There will come a time when the well runs dry for these guys, but it probably won't last too long.

Faction

Who cares about how many students there are? the fact still remains that many schools just suck at sports, regardless of numbers. seriously, nobody cares.

class A Aliquippa voluntarily plays AA football and WON the state championship....i could be wrong, but im pretty sure that every school they played, at least in playoffs, was bigger than they were!
The only team that was smaller than us was Jeannette in the WPIAL championship...we had 10 more boys than they did. Everyone else had a larger enrollment.

Fiction,

That would mean no one from this area could beat a WPIAL school because of size of schools or POWERHOUSE TEAMS which coach says is ok if they are small and they should compete. Just play dead if you are a smaller team so all you coaches out there see if the school you are playing is bigger than you on Friday and tell the kids to play dead and you will have a better chance to win that night but if you are bigger just say hey guys we got this one!!

Quippa AAAA...I thought that is what HR told me. Sorry if I was wrong about that.

and for the record...you can have a very good A team that can beat many AA teams, but those years are few and far between. The AWESOME NB team of Travis Brown...put them in the LHAC with BIGGER schools. They might not have been .500.

quipsfan,

Glad to see you on this board. Have a good time here even though you have to watch out for cluelessness but other than that great board. How is everything in Quip land? I played with and against many of the Quip players.

cluelessness???

Anyway...I wonder why NB never beat Central in varsity football?? I wonder if it is because they are a bigger school?

I wonder why Bedford has bigger starters than NB on the line?

I wonder if I would have started two years at Altoona?

I wonder if Lucas Miller would have been the starting QB at State College?

I wonder if AJ starts all 4 years of HS at Woodland Hills or a basketball team like Harrisburg?

I wonder if the same 11 offensive starters at Everett this year would have been the starters at Hollidaysburg?

cluelessness???

Thank you for the kind words...I'm enjoying this debate today...slow day at work :D

Everything is going well here...our weight room attendance has been pretty good, aside from the track & baseball guys. We should bring about 45-55+ kids to camp when in opens in August. All in all, we should be pretty decent.
