brandon that is the way it should be, if you have better quality wrestlers, you should win the match, just because your school doesnt have as much of an interest in wrestling as NS does you shouldnt lose matches just because they have kids to fill the team

in my opinion, eliminating 2 weight classes will make it more of a team sport think about it...if kids are out their as individuals...now they have 2 less chances of doing that, leave it alone and u have 14 individuals competing, modify it, now u only have 12....how is that helping the individual arguement?

ok gunner, then along the lines that you are suggesting, eliminating all weights until ther are only 3 would make it even more of a team sport. that doesnt make sense. besides, the point is.....THE TEAM SCORES IS NOTHING BUT AN AFTERTHOUGHT. wrestling does not depend on a team effort. soccer, football, basketball....yeah. not wrestling. if the team score really meant anything, then it would be the last competition offered, not the INDIVIDUAL tourmament.

It was 12 before going to 14 a few years back.My problem is that college only has 10 weights and starts at 125.The # of seniors competing at 103 last year in the state(AA and AAA) you can count on one hand. And 90% of the time 103 guys are 9th graders who should be wrestling Jr high. The only reason most of them excelled is because they were beating other 9th graders or getting forfeits. If you want to improve wrestling, image and competition;eliminate a couple weights, spread the weight classes out a little more, keep the restrictions on weight cutting, making kids wrestle where they naturally should be.You would end up with better competition, less dehydration and weightloss injuries(thus avoiding blackeyes the sport doesn't need),because if a kid wants to be at a lower weight,he'd have to watch his diet and exercise regimine year round and control his weight the right way as opposed to crash diets, water pills, garbage bags, and any other means of dropping weight quick, that can lead to health problems.
"Don't argue with stupid people; they'll drop you to their level and beat you with experience."

allow me to explain myself, i wasnt too clear the first time and i apologize...
say you have 10 teams at an invitational or whatever, theres 14 weight groups, then you cut out 2 weight groups...same number of teams, less individuals. ur right about it not so much being a team aspect, but cutting weight classes means making less room for individuals to comepete, but individualism is pretty much exactly what you say wrestling is.
