Actually, if you're girls want to go to States, they either need to place first at Districts, or run a 51.61, which is what eighth place at States was last year.

This seems to be a myth that just never dies....the state qualifying standard is NOT based on what happened at state the previous year. The numbers may change slightly year to year, but by and large have remained the same since the PIAA went to the the current method of qualifying.
