Gunner, since we are talking defenders on the county all-star team, how many times did you make it?

i made 2nd team my jr. year and 1st my sr. i dont even try for that crap, being a defender is pretty thankless...you get blamed for the losses but no credit for shutouts or wins, but hey, someone has to do it and id do it a million times before i play striker once

I agree with you Gunner, you should never go into a season or game playing for recognition. If you're playing for that, you're playing for the wrong reasons. I didn't care how many times I made the all-stars, I just think its only fair to recognize a complete All Star team!!! In my mind, defense is a thankless but vital part to any teams success and to not recognize that with their name in the paper is just not right.

Well, let me just give some thanks and praise to one of those who played that thankless position. I played keeper as a freshman, a season in which our defense set many school records for such things as goals allowed, shutouts, etc. I was 5'2" and didn't quite have the stature to be playing keeper, but we had no one else to do it, yet we were still successful. Now, I could sit here and tell you how great I was but it would be a lie. Defender007 was easily the best defender I've ever played with, against, or seen play at the high school level. Many of our wins that season could be attributed to him.

Thanks for that 4him. You know I enjoyed playing in front of you. I would go back to that soccer season in an instant, that team had alot of fun just being on the field together.
